well, Apple, it looks like you're about to wave goodbye to a lot of users....


such is the removal of service functionality, and system support, that users in their droves are looking likely to be choosing to leave Apple.... replacing their iPhones with Androids, and Macs with PC's


since iCloud REQUIRES, Lion.... anyone either not wanting to run Lion, or unable to run Lion, is having the previous functionality taken away from them on their macs...


making decent multi function sync between iOS device and an older Mac impossible by cloud, moving back to the days of having to manually sync devices

and even those that are running , or going to be running Lion, are facing a hugely reduced feature set......


at which point much of the convenience and integrated feature set that made choosing Mac+ iOS a bit of a no brainer is gone..... and in a rolling systems replacement program, one may as well save the money and get a PC and Android devices.... and use google.... it actually works better......



i note that i have now got several high profile corporate client cases where this is actively on the table for the tech planners, and i can find no reason to argue against it....

this is not 1's or even 10's but 100's of users , being corporately removed from the apple user base, and taking their business elsewhere.....

extrapolating that globally, i'd suggest this change is potentially going to cost apple 10's of thousands of corporate customers.

rather stupid Apple....

I have struggled to see the advantage of a MAC over a PC for some time.

When they were a RISC based power PC core setup there were obvious advantages on number crunch intensive applications but since they abandoned them and went to the standard Intel cores that advantage is well and truely gone. I am pretty sure that MAC users were either stubborn, stupid or stuck with an old application that was not (yet) available on PC.

My "cloud" sits on a shelf at home.

My limited experience of other people's "clouds" is that they are provided not to look after your data but to provide opportunities for their owners to sell you things, so I wouldn't rely on them for anything that would be more than a minor irritation if it were to disappear into a black hole.

I've got a 6 year old Mac Mini in my flat, which copes a lot better than a 6 year old PC.

I like Mac as a personal device but struggles in corporate environments, unless you are specific to building iPhone/iPad apps. I managed to blag a MacBook Pro for a work, but its been fairly useless for a lot of applications we use. Shame its going "spare"   

Apple always has struggled in corporate world, looks like cloud is doing it no favours.

Apple have such a small market share anyway does it matter ? I would never buy any apple product because of the price. Those that do will probably continue to do so and so will probably upgrade.

As Microsfot learnt, the no.1 thing to do to p*ss off corporate customers is to force upgrades on them.

Then again, if a business relies on some random freebie cloud service they get with their machines, they are on dodgy ground IMHO.

As I've said time and time again, crApple are the scum of the earth. Like Google and Sony.

If you insist on using their crippled products, accept the downsides and the fact they insist they control you.
