Auto Gearbox Woes
« on: 27 November 2011, 14:33:33 »

This morning on a trip to Stroud on the A roads our Elite seemed to loose all power after a short splutter, pulled over & the MID was showing "Automatic Gearbox"
Took a look under the bonnet for loose cabels etc but couldn't see any thing amiss.
Got back in and the car restarted and drove ok to our destination, it did the same on the way home (also on the hilly A roads) and again restarted & was fine all the way back to Telford on the motorways.
Anybody got any ideas what the problem may be?

As with most faults with Auto Box the first thing to check is the fluid level. :y

If low then bring it up to level as per guide in maintenance section....if feeling dedicated and colour of fluid is very dark then advise would be a total drop of the 2 sumps and clean/replace filter then refill with fresh Dex 3. :y

i had the gearbox message light up when my crank sensor failed resulting in a missfire around 3300 revs. this resulted in the gearbox going into limp mode because it couldnt change when it wanted to...check for codes first and go from there as it may not be a gearbox fault.

You were only in Stroud? You could have called in for a diagnostic session!  :y
