Petrol or diesel?

Petrol - cambelt, every 4 years or 40k which ever is first without fail.

Diesel - chain

1997 is pre "mini-facelift" so spec will be fairly low, might get a climate pannel, so aircon, cd changer in the boot, electric windows all around, thats about it!  :)

CDX isn't bad spec - misses the phillips amplified stereo, blind, memory seats, rear spoiler of the elites.  Pre mini facelift elites lack hids and bose anyway.

My 1994 2.5 CD had electric seats, electric mirrors, air con, rear sun blind, fog lamps, centre rear armrest, headlight washers & headlight height adjustment.

I think the CDX will have cruise control as well. :y

CDX from '96 got climate as standard.  :y

Seats, presumably just up and down? Not full electric 8 way movement?
Mirrors - all Omegas have leccy mirrors.
All non GLS have A/C. Early GLS had option of ESR OR AC.
Blind only std on Elites up until 2002. Option on Elites for 2002 and 2003, and optional on CDX.
Front Fogs - std on all non GLS
Rear centre armrest - Std on all non GLS (possibly some CD iirc)
Headlight washers - std on early Elites and all HID cars, optional on all others
Headlight adjustment - std on all non HID cars

:)

my 1999 2.5 cdx mfl has-
ccrt 700 boot changer mid - std on 1999 CDX and Elites only. Don't think option on others
sunroof - Std across the minifacelifts, except GLS, facelifts need to be CDX or Elite
electric seats (heated) - presumably just height, not full electric ;)
cruise - std on CDX and Elite, option on all others
elec windows all round - std on all non GLS (which just has front electric
elec heated mirrors - std across the range
aircon - std on all except some GLS
dual climate control - std on all post 96 CDX and Elite, all retail MV6 and all facelifts (enhanced version)
cruise - where that echo ::)
and best of all its a manual  :y

Cam covers are a frequent issue. The breathers block and then crankcase pressure blows the cam cover gaskets. Nothing to worry about and not too bad a job to fix, although there's a bit of stripping down to get to them.

I'd see to them soon, as it will fill the plug wells with oil and this destroys the plug leads and causes misfires. It can also take out the coil pack eventually. Check the Maintenance guides for info. on all common Omega jobs. :y
