I like free events
« on: 30 November 2011, 10:15:53 »

Went to a mobile bash last night, which was very interesting. Had a talk with people who made Tesco iPhone App, was surprising the ways in which the app was used, which was never predicted. Certain things like people scanning items in Sainsburys to compare prices was expected, but not this:

They found that with the addition of a bar code reader on the app (which some said bit gimmicky) - They had considerable amount of customers who would enter a Tesco store, scan certain items with the phone app, then leave  ???

Turns out older generation were using the app to do their "shopping" picking what they want, then leave and press go to order online, so its delivered, save having to carry heavy items.

Of course the real reason I went was the free open bar & domino's pizza's - Looked an interesting company to work for, the open bar was there every day  :o - people just helped themselves after work! Filled with decent beer too Peroni, Corona, Leff,  Magners and so on.

Apparently this company had a profit per employee of over 1million, so they could easily afford it.  :o

Finished the evening by going here: http://www.madisonlondon.net/

As MrsT organised an event there, more free beer & food  :D

I always see it as a challenge to drink as much free booze as possible  ;D

That would be the private sector (TGIF). Don't forget to tuck some of the freebies away for your pension  ;D ;D

Yup, too right. I'd never work in public sector personally!

I knew there had to be a good use for technology! :) That's pretty neat, though, really.

Something I never considered, they also had a blind Marketing manager talking.

Quite a few people have rubbished iOS5 as not much, in particular Siri. But for her, being almost totally blind (could see about 1 letter if full size on iPhone) said that Siri has changed her life, she could never txt message before, now she can!

Quite a few eye openers, some tech may not work for you, but might work for others

Oddly, I find it perfectly paletable when in Italy.  I can even tolerate it in a Pizza place.  But in a pub? Nah....

Sorry I was refering to the stuff they brew that originated in others places, and are now made with chemical water in Burton. Not great old brewery's like Marstons, quite like a good pint of Pedigree. The trouble with ale is that not many pubs know how to keep it at the right temperature, or clean the pipes properly or often enough. :(

Lager can take some abuse, and is fairly consistent wherever you are, and out of the lot I prefer Nasty at least it is brewed in the country of origin :y
