Just seen an ebay ad -

WHY, for the love of the lord, must grown adults increasingly talk in "text" language etc...  I don't know why, but it really winds me up!

we recomend you view b4 you buy,if this isnt possible.plz

I wouldn't so much pick on people's spelling, because they may have dyslexia, etc, which cannot be helped.

It's the lazyness, such as B4 instead of before, and PLZ instead of please, and other such text abbreviations, which wind me up.

They are way to commonly used in all correspondance these days.

My niece sent me a text during the week to ask for a lift to her mates.
In the end i gave up trying to decipher it  and phoned her .to ask was she wanted . Text short hand is a pita or am i just getting old

When you're selling something wether via eBay or other means then surely you want your advert to stand out for the right reasons. Some ads are so badly set out it makes it difficult to find the information you want, & I would be likely to click ' next'. It's not too difficult to type your advert in Word, use spell check & paste it all to the advert.

As a life long railway enthusiast you tend to recongnise stuff easily and texters using the official designation for 1 of the 4 or main BR bogie designs is worth mickey taking them.

B4 is a Swindon designed high speed bogie first used under a GWR coach in the early 60s.

As to Ur - a race of intelligent beings found in David Brins Uplift series of 6 books - things like this are funny to avid SF readers

A friend of mine's a school teacher,a few weeks ago she was telling me about kids using this in school work
