I've considered Turkey as well but never got round to it. Keep getting drawn back to what we know best (well it keeps Mrs and Miss 2112 happy!!). Be interested to hear how you get on.
Have a great time anyway, and always nice to have something to look forward to after Christmas, when things are a bit of an anti-climax :(

Havent been there for about 12 years,so a bit sketchy on the details but my lasting impression is that its well worthwhile getting inland away from the tourist resorts and experiencing some of the real Turkey and its people. We did this on a few organised tours and found it to be a fascinating place. :y

James, now checked the met temperature will be around 18 celcius and nights 9-10.. but from wednesday it shows partly rainy for 2 days around 16 celcius.. :-\   nights wont be hot so prepare some thicker dress (hotel inside will be hot anyway)

dont know if you like historical places (I dont  ;D  bunch of stones)..  and there are some waterfalls..
http://www.venividitravel.com/turkey/packages/section/8/antalya-region-sightseeing-tours.html
http://www.turkeytravelplanner.com/itin/city_tours/antalya_tours.html

(take some piccies please ;D )

personally I can recommend daily boat tours (if you dont have problem on sea)

also you can hire a car please check it before signing.. because if they find any problem after you use
they want your arm and the leg :(

foods are delicious but probably more oily than you used to..

if your mobile can work in Turkey you can send me message and ask me anything you want I'll pm you my number..
also if you get in trouble (dont ;D ) you can give me your mobile and I can talk to locals.. (I'll be 8 hours distance from you)

these are currency rates but may slightly differ
 http://kur.doviz.com/
http://www.altinkaynak.com/currency.aspx

if rates are not bad better you convert some £ to TL in UK..

also as I said Kalkan and Fethiye/Ölüdeniz is 3 hours you can go and visit..
(please stay away from all kinds of parachute sports-its dangerous)

Hope you will enjoy :y

ps: and as I said beer is ok, hotel is relatively safer (better give one drink also to the garson or barmaid from same ;D ) but if you drink strong things (whisky) please check the bottle or buy from markets.. also wines are safer.. strong drinks are expensive here, so some b*st*rds prepare fake drinks and cause poisoning.. so be careful.. if you drink on the boats beer or your bottle.. no others.. not a nice subject but I must warn you , sorry..

Been a few times James - nice country and nice people.

Hired a car each time - style of driving out there is "different" - you need to be assertive/almost aggressive - its certainly an experience.

If you're at the coast seafood is great, and we didn't find any issues with the booze.

No problems with mobile phone cover, ours worked fine

seafood definitely ok and fresh but a bit expensive (at least for us) :-\

I'm scared about drinks as last year some Germans and Russians were poisoned  >:( >:(  although the juries give them (they were caught immediately) more than 60 years of jail (for each) , nothing can stop those people >:(

Vodaphone already works here (one of the biggest mobile company) , also Turkcell .. if your mobile open to roaming you wont have any problems.. :y

ps: style of driving is really different , agressive and dangerous so you must be ready, but if police catch you , you are finished ;D
