Aircon sys internal pressure
« on: 05 December 2011, 14:00:13 »

May you know how many bar it is? An alu pipe is being welded so I'll want to get it tested if the job is done. Don't know what pressure should be ensured, though... :-\   Any advice welcomed!  :y     Laszlo

It depends if the pipe is in the "high side" or "low side". From the Vauxhall data, low side pressure is typically 190-210kPa @1500RPM and 20C and the high side is 1000-1800kPa.

The high side safety switch cuts out at 3000kPa, however, so this could be regarded as the maximum pressure the system should ever see.

Would it not be easier to get a 2nd hand pipe?

I've already got one but unfortunately can not be fitted without welding. :(

...so what have you done to your car today (page 92)...

Dismantled some unit of aircon at front of engine close to fan, service connector (fill up) was shoot out by overpressure. :(  Having found a used one I attempted to change them . Unsuccessfully. :( The ends of pipes are differents so I have to get it repaired by a welder who is able to weld alu aircon pipe as well. Not an easy job to find...I'm investigating away.  8) 8) 8)

Welder is found!  :y I had to do a little pre-work, I've cut down both of pipe end, fortune the outside diameter of one as the same as the inside diameter of other. So just cut a screw in and an other out and both of end could be fitted to each other.  :y I'm not sure in screws made by myself so I'm gonna get it welded properly. Welding tomorrow.  :)
