my miggy is from 97 and finally I solved all its problems and god knows what time another problem will pop.. No!  :(

....
Always had a soft spot for the Monza, I can remember sitting in a new one as a small boy with its digi dash!

I remember sitting in a new one at a dealers in Pompey.  ;) ;) ;) Not sure when, but IIRC the original rounded off Astra was a new car.

as an experience one mechanic friend bought a bmw E30 in "good condition"..

I remember how much he spent on it (all parts from breakers) and finally he gave up.. ( even he didn't pay any for labour) and many parts he collected from his friends.. its a matter of budget..   :-\

I did the head gasket on my 24 valve Senator, so quite au fait with the engine. Quite simple really.  ;) ;) Besides, if Graeme C/Omegatoy has had anything to do with it, it'll not need touching again.  ;)

I can thoroughly recommend a Monza, check out my avatar  :)

At least they're easier to work on with oodles of room under the bonnet, in comparison! They've got better lights as well!

Only really in details, modified interior, stainless exhaust, relocated oil cooler stuff like that. Still with the standard 6 pot 12v lump but it is a strong 'un and bomb proof! Slightly modified braking system (custome made disks and brake hoses) and a custom made grill. Here's a better pic,

Yup. Standard rear seat, side panels and door cards retrimmed in conolly leather and two brand new Recaros trimmed in the same leather. We sent the leather over to Germany for Recaro to trim the seats themselves but with our supplied leather so it would all match. The seats even have Recaro embossed in the leather  :) A local firm "Tek Seating" which is run by an old school mate of mine did all the triming.

That does look well... a peach! The rust is no problem, treat it & paint the bottom (of the car) all round. Wonder how much he wanted?

I notice one or two of you are wary of old cars. Trust me this is'nt "old". Classics tend to fall into four categories.

   1:- Complete resto.

2:- Rolling resto. Can be used while improving/finishing.

3:- Complete resto. All done to high standard.

   4:- Original unwelded.

Most running classics have been well cared for & loved...pampered even by enthusiasts & maintained to a very high standard.

Yes there are dodgy sellers that hide problems (usually rust) but as long as you are careful the simplicity of these old motors can make a good one more reliable than a modern car...code this, sensor that, catalysts etc.

You can buy a 2 year old lovely looking car that's a money pit & nearly impossible to work on at home...with no charm or character.

    Just my thoughts, Guy. :y
