When I brake the car pulls towards the right, and afterwards the steering feels very heavy. Then when I go over a bump the steering flicks back to normal position, and when I fully lock the steering it doesn’t come back by itself

I have had all new front suspension put in, new brake pads, callipers and discs

I own a Vauxhall Omega 2003 CDX 2.6 V6

Can anyone please help ??

Have you had wheel tracking and Alignment after you put all new front suspension?

Yes, i have had 4 wheel alignment.

I am on the case to find a new pair of calipers for the car, but can anyone tell me how much a new Power Steering Pump for my car would cost ?

i am not saying these are the causes just something to look into to eliminate them

I understand, but its worth trying, as you said to eliminate that factor. Although they are brand new :S

So this is how we diagnose is it? Randomly changing parts in a hope of stumbling accross the issue is masively expensive and ultimately usually frustrating resulting in car for sale when the owner thriws in the towl.

What exactly is the history with the car? Ie;
What work has been done and by who? And when did the problem start ?

I have a hunch but lets get some sense into this thread before we start guessing.

Indeed, knowing when this started, and what work had been done and when, is essential to assist.

Don't change parts willy nilly, as that can be expensive and unproductive.  I doubt the PAS pump is failing TBH.

have you jacked up the front and wiggled the wheels side to side. then top to bottom see if you notice somthing. if nothing holed a wheel and get some one to turn steering wheel see if that shows any thing..

Well the parts where all fitted by a garage, and the calipers i fitted myself, and done all the standard stuff to them, like bleeding them... The old calipers did the same but not as much as the new ones, these new ones i have to tightly grip the steering wheel before i brake to make sure it doesnt turn a lot, and the steering becomes very stiff/heavy. Then once i hit a bump it flicks back and runs as normal. This happens every time i brake.

As for when, well after the garage replaced the suspension, brake pads and discs it was all fine, but about a month later this problem started, so i thought the caliper had ceased, so i replaced both front calipers, and the problem continued, and has gradually got worse. So as i said i just replaced them before, but i didnt make it clear exactly when and how it happened, my bad. So im going with the calipers are not the component at fault.

The car is just used to daily commutting to work, and social things, nothing harsh, calm driving.

what are the wishbone bushes and steering idler like?

Your wishbone bolts are loose, fairly sure, or sure as i can be from the wrong end of a key board anyway. They should be tightened wheels loaded/suspension compressed to normal ride hight, to 120nm + angle tighten 30 degrees, plus another 15 degrees.

If you like, as i work in slough, i can do that for you and check it over. If the bolts are loose then the bolts may be damaged or worn though. May need replacing, but not expensive.

Ahh i see, yeah that is a lot less expensive than what i was planning on doing

Thanks but no thanks  , im going to drop the car off at the garage tommorrow, and let me deal with it . Ill tell them what you have said, and they should fix it all. I am also putting in all new rear suspension as rear shock is leaking. It seems as if i getting problems after problems with this car, but i will stick with it

You say the calipers were fitted by yourself.  Were they brand spankers new (reconditioned) or second hand ones from a breaker?

If the car drove straight and true before being worked on then its the work that has to be re-examined?

Either sticking/lazy caliper, air in caliper or start looking a suspension components.  Bear in mind that all roads have a crossfall or camber built into them by the roads engineers to ensure water drains correctly.  Ensure that the car pull is not influenced by said crossfall and do testing on flat roads.
