5 speed auto box ?????
« on: 08 December 2011, 21:52:38 »

Just been browsing through E-Bay looking at Omega stuff and i have just seen an ad for a `03 reg 2.6 auto Omega saloon with stated,  " The automatic gearbox is fitted with the innovative and highly fuel efficient Vauxhall Eco 5th gear." Bargain price at the moment and a very nice motor, but still 3 days to go. I always assumed that the auto boxes fitted to our omega`s were 4 speed. I suppose someone more knowlegeable will enlighten me.

As far as I'm aware, it was just the Opel 2.5 DTi (?) diesel that Vauxhall/UK didn't get that had a 5 speed auto. The 2.6 has a 4 speed with lock up like all other autos.  ;)

Easily done if you don't know I suppose, it does sound like another gear change.

Indeed, only the common rail Y25DT engined Opel Omega 2.5DTi got the 5 speed, all others are the standard AR25/35 that we know and love.

At least one person has put this box on the V6, but there are no V6 maps for it, so it will never be ideal.
