Heather Mills Blue Badge,
« on: 11 December 2011, 09:33:45 »

Hi,reading a story in The Mail last friday about Ms Mills former driver being done for using a copy of Heather Mills Blue Badge,he was fined and quite rightly so.
But my question is,Why has Heather Mills been allowed the badge, she can walk, she can dance, and she can skate.
I think that to be awarded this badge you have to be claimimg DLA,which means that you have to prove that you are disabled.
Clearly she is not,I have a friend who has great difficultly walking, and suffers severe discomfort,he has been disallowed any DLA payments so he can't get a Blue Badge.

My dad had an industrial accident that broke his ankles and other damage. He can barely walk around his bungalow, can't wear trousers as his legs get sores because of the material rubbing etc etc. He's been medically retired because of his injuries etc, yet they keep trying to take his DLA away, even though specialists keep writing letters to them, telling them he's buggered! >:(

The system is ok, but run by bloody idiots >:( >:( >:( >:(

DLA and Blue badges are totally separate.
If you get the higher rate mobility section of DLA, you automatically qualify for a blue badge.
but you dont need any DLA to be able to get a blue badge.

Blue Badge's are awarded by your council, with advice from your doctor that you have severe discomfort or inability to walk far.
Also remember a lot of sufferers may appear ok on some days, but you dont see the whole picture.

Hi Jimbob,It seems as if not every council applys the same rules then,my council demands proof of DLA before even thinking of issueing one.
We all know that DLA is being abused,a neighbour of mine has it,and he runs a farm up the hillside from me singlehanded, suffered a heart attack,a few years ago but still carrys bails of hay all over his fields.

I'd damn well hope anyone with one leg is eligible for a blue badge, TBH.

However, her former driver can't be the sharpest tool in the box. ;D

Hello, Sir. Can I see that badge, please.
So, you're Heather Mills?
Yep.
Erm.. OK. <scratches head>

If what you say is correct your council are breaking the law asnd are blatantly guilty of disability discrimination.

I hope you're not serious. For every person who genuinely is disabled and needs the help, there's one up the road who makes a mockery of the system and makes the real cases look bad.

No I'm not serious about the eggs, and yes you are right about some people milking the system.I know quite a few who are married who are both claiming the maximum weekly amount each.He is entitled to it I know he's legit, but his wife isn't,she walks everywhere shops like a mad woman, weekend trips to the westend shows once a month every month,oh I forgot about the hplidays to the states, egypt,Turkey, all without any walking aids.

That's how it should be, the only people who need worry will be the spongers.
