Ex police
« on: 13 December 2011, 20:39:29 »

I have an ex police 3.2 mv6 03 just wondering if any body knows the police spec . Do they have different suspension and is the diff a different ratio. Another question is that ive just put 18s all round with 235 40s on the front and 255 40s on the rear. I want to lower the car by 35 to 40mm ive heard that 255s on the rear are as big as you can go but looking at the gap between  wheel and arch it looks like you could go to 265s just wondering if anyone has done this.

Spec depends on force.  Some have LSD with a lower ratio.  Most have uprated suspension, more for weight than sportiness.

General concensus is 30mm drop from std is about the max.

as TB has pointed out, forces specifically and even within the same differ
(generally) they are sometimes auto, 'usually' have lsd with a 3.7 ratio if manual, shite interior but quite often have fabric recaros? HD suspension but dont always have it, think its similar to the irmscher bits but never compared them directly, load compensating rear struts are quite common on plod spec but dunno if thats so with the omegas, shit loads of loom for all the lights n shit, hardly ever have electrically adjusting anything lol, bog standard brakes in the case of the omegas (later ex plod volvo s60/v70s with the 2.4 t5 engine get uprated front brakes) and normally have the calibrated speedos

Is that due to the eccessive consumption of do-nuts by the vehicals occupants? ;)

Don't put 18's on it 'as is' without a re align or WIM check, on it, it handle like a slide show, most Police was aligned for 15 or 16 Steels or alloys.

Most of the Omegas have fabric Recaros, the rest have leather Recaros as all the seats are manufactured by Recaro ;)

Don't think so - I had 275 on the rear on my 19's (well, still have actually!)

Serek will know for sure.

have on mine 18 with 265/35/18 and ET30 still some space there.
you will fit 285/30/18 no problem but this need to be at least 10" rim

i was referring to the seats with the adjustable base for thigh support... Asin the ''recaro's'' rather than the recaros as a general term as i knew they were all made by recaro lol. Alex

Both the facelift ones I've had have had standard GLS cloth seats. The only ones that I've seen with the sports seats have had the seats retrofitted :-\

Such as this one:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/110785233653?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
and this one:http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=45450.0

The V6 Vectra Cs tend to have sports front seats as found in standard SRis. :y

I've had five ex-police Omegas now, all basically the same spec....

Harder and much taller springs. As in ride height + 1 to 2 inches
Cloth seats
manual rear windows
no LSD ( probably only 20% of Police cars had this )
LOTS of dodgy wiring to remove

For handling purposes, I'd suggest 215 as the best, with handling prowess decreasing steadily the wider you go. By the time you get to 245, the handling will be very compromised. Plenty of grip, but poor handling.
