Interior swop.
« on: 22 December 2011, 20:24:55 »

I've got a feeling that I'm going to get shouted at for asking this question but here goes :-X Is it possible to fit a pre face lift interior in to a 2001 MV6 as the car is an ex plod and it's basic trim, cant afford leather as I'm not working at the moment so got a small budget but plenty of time  :D

iirc, it's not advisable to put "older" style interiors in newer model migs. It's to do with all the safety features, ie side bags, head restraints etc. You can change the interior, just make sure it's from the same year!

Insurance No-No for starters - unless you inform them.

You are losing active head restriants, and possibly side airbags - they will probably no longer cover you for whiplash etc.

Heaters are incompatible as later are variable compared to on/off of earlier.

my estate is a elite but shows on logbook as mv6 with full beige interior, bought the interior that im discussing on here for the passenger seat as it was mine that had the hole in it as seat heater was left on and burnt the hole and it was out a saloon so rest was no use to me

If the seats are out of a MFL, the airbags will work, but the active head restraints won't, so you need to inform insurance.

The heaters won't work either, and as leather is nasty in the winter, I'd hold out for the right seats. Or stick to the comfier cloth ;)

And, correct, MV6 leather only availble in black (or dark grey if its later car), and MV6 cloth only available in dark grey with the gay colourful bits in the middle.

It's depressing - I love the MV6 seats for support and comfort, but the stripes are a bit... Cavalier...
