airbag light
« on: 23 December 2011, 10:54:48 »

manage to repair problem with my drivers door not opening (wasnt the cold weather like one suggestion)
it was part of the lock mechanism. after finding an omega in local scrappy at 5 oclock the other night the guy pulled the car out from the pile and then stood there whilst I started to remove the door card, lock etc I was struggling to disconnect the motor plug when he tapped me on the shoulder and said is this like the one you want?
He had opened the boot and in there was a complete motor and lock mech can you believe it!
so by now I have cut the plug off the motor and just needed to remove the lock from the door
so we were both stood there with a lock assembly each with the dilema had the the lock been replaced and the one in the boot was faulty or was he about to replace the mech and decided to scrap the car.
so I took both home and eventually used the lock from the boot with my motor.
Now to get to airbag problem when trying to remove the lock and motor I couldnt relase the motor plug so I removed the airbag metal plate so I could gain access to plug but when I reconnected the airbag unit I now have light on
I have a easy obd programmer to access faults but this doesnt show as a fault so I cannot reset the light am I doing something wrong.

I would double check the connector is on fully.  Did you have the ignition on at any point while it was disconnected?  If so, you're most likely gonna need someone with a Tech2 to reset it.

ODBII reader will only talk to engine ECU, so sadly in this case, as much use as a used condom smeared in dogshit.

I believe some local members may have readers capable of talking to airbag ECU to reset.  Did you have ign on at any point with sensor unplugged?  If not, you may have damaged the sensor.  But get it on a better reader first, to see whats what :y
