Just read this, not sure I want to fry anything yet:

http://www.bba-reman.com/forums/Topic56772-2-1.aspx

Might have a browse through the user manual. If I can unlock the bloody thing.

Doesn't look anything special to me, just alternator output voltage controlled by the ECU. Plenty of cars do that these days.

Either get a decent mains battery charger and give it an overnight charge or jump leads, IMHO. Most booster packs won't start a car with a properly flat battery IME, so don't rely on one of them.

I have to say I chickened out today. Just used the good old Elite instead. I had visions of fried circuits and exploding satnav screens all last night.  :o Might have been due to the wine though!

Will get some jump cables tomorrow and give it a go.

I don't think the Vx batteries are the same size. I need a 075, the Vx's seem to be bigger. Plus Halfords may be the only thing open tomorrow.

Remind me of sequence. Both cars off, recipient + to donor +, donor - to unpainted secure area in the recipient car. Start donor, wait a few mins and then crank up recipient.
After this can I disconnect whilst both cars are running or do I need to shut both down first? And is there an order to disconnect?

As it doesn't appear to be urgent, I would recommend taking the battery out and giving it an overnight charge on a mains charger. It'll be kinder to the battery than a jump start, but I can't see a problem with jump starting it.

Checked and the battery was producing 1.5V. Found a neighbour with a hefty booster pack, gave it a go and it fired to life. Thanks for all the advice chaps. I did have jump leads ready incase the booster pack did not work. Maybe time to invest in a battery charger/conditioner.
