All Chris said was that she has an amazing voice which I agree with, irrespective of whether you compare her to the current or old crop of singers. We then deviate onto her music writing skills and someone has already rescinded his respect which probably wasn't there in the first place.
Point is she has a really good voice. You really can't disagree with that, you may not like her style of music or the fact that she doesn't write her own music but thats not the point. She seems to have a voice which I certainly don't have and am pretty sure none of you lot who put her down can match.

Haha easy Tiger. Note the smilies after my post!  ;)

You may believe that she has an ''amazing'' voice but I don't. The conversation then developed to song writing.  ;)

But hey, this isn't North Korea so we are allowed to express differences of opinion  :y

Quite agree Webby. So in the interest of balance... Or is that re balance...? I think she's very talented. From one so young, impressive record. Opinion is one thing, but facts are here.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adele_(singer)

Not all to my taste as said. But to deny her talent as a singer is a bit like saying night is day.

Having said that, her first hit was shite IMO. ;D chasing pavements was it? But even then her voice shone through.

Anyway, given her voice was the key to success, to loose that voice to health issues is cruel luck. Let's hope she sings again. Weather to your personal taste or not. :)

I got 21 as a part of my christmas box  :y

The best stuff on the album is the tracks that haven't been relesed as a single.

Imho, brilliant voice.
She might not have the range of some singers but you would be well beat to hear anybody put so much emotion into a song  :y

Point me in the direction of someone else current (not dead/or so old that they can't stand up) of a similar age with a voice like hers. For someone so young she has an admirable voice. Easy to criticise others from behind a keyboard, try encouraging people with talent for once and we might not end up a nation of talentless fat b********!

Edited to add smilies  ;D ;D ;D

Apparently they mean something at the end of a post.

PS: Just my 2p, no offence intended and only trying to support someone with a gift that I don't have and envy.

All some have said is that she's not an 'incredible' singer, which is fair coment.  Nobody has said she's not a talented vocalist. She is definately talented.  :y

This genre is not really in my field of interest but I took the opportunity to listen to various You Tube pieces and have to say that she does indeed have a pleasant inoffensive voice that may well develop into a fine one.

There are quite a few performers around who do have voices which are, without doubt, listenable to - aside from the intrinsic musical value of the material being presented, but there are few really exceptional ones - indeed thinking about this, there have been very few performers in recent history who have been blessed with a voice which transcends the physical reproduction on the music being made and moves to a point where a greater (if frustratingly elusive) presence becomes evident.

Well, a current and most obviously more talented singer that is currently bringing out records is Sarah Brightman... former wife of melted-wellington-boot-face (Lloyd-Webber)  ;D If you listen to her you'll realise that in every way, technically and melodically, Adele (and I know this is going to incense you) is actually quite poor. I find that Adele really strains when she sings and that is simply not nice on the ears. That's MY opinion  :P :P :P :P ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

With regards to sitting behind a keyboard criticising..... I don't have a gift or ability to sing. Neither does Simon Cowell but millions of people tune in to hear his criticism... yet that's ok.  :-\

The point is, you might now youtube Sarah Brightman and think ''pah, that Bear is on drugs, Adele is much better''..... but as said it's just a difference of opinion  :y :y :y :y :y :y

Heads off to fire up the hifi and have a listen to a few records.
