I don't think they want. In the last 150yrs they didn't launch any war I'm sure now they also won't. The US and EU are in minority with their Iran related suspecton/opinion of developing atombomb. Iran(Persia) had been occupied a lot of times in the history but occupators were integrated and assimilated fully all the time.

I think the Israelis actually hold the key as to whether the world goes to war with Iran. They pull the strings.

Whatever happens I dare say the price of oil will go up.

Israel will bomb the nuclear facilities in Iran, they with the backing of the US cannot afford for a nuclear capable Iran so will nip that in the bud.
It will then be down to sabre rattling if the arab world unite against Iran. :y
Not a nice prospect another midle east confict :( :(

High oil prices will cripple the Western economic recovery

As a general rule dictators start wars, democracies finish them. So it will almost certainly be first move Iran. If they want sanctions loosened or removed, allow in the independent nuclear inspectors like they previously agreed to, simples.

There might be a few skirmishes, but Iran doesn't have a great military capability and the Americans have a carrier group in the area tasked with keeping the Straits of Hormuz open. The nasty surprise will be if they already have a viable nuclear device or a dirty conventional bomb (explosive + nuclear material) as they have the capability with their rocket technology to reach southern Europe, hence the USA anti-missile deployment program in Europe. Israel has an operational tactical anti-missile system under their "Arrow" program, likewise the UK, France and Italy do under a joint program called "Aster" with the "Aster 30" being the tactical anti-ballistic missile version which is operation in the UK on Type 45 destroyers. The USA and Russia are the only countries with Anti-ballistic missile system capable of destroying ICBMs as these travel too fast to be intercepted by tactical anti-ballistic systems..

Israel is much more vulnerable to a nuclear attack then Iran is, as Israel is a small country with their population centres close together, so not many bombs are required to destroy most of the country, whereas Iran is a big country with a much more dispersed population and population centres, so many more nuclear devices would be required to inflict the same sort of damage. This is one of the reasons Israel is 'twitchy' over rouge nuclear armed countries, along with the Iranian Prime Ministers avowed intention to use nuclear devices against Israel "to wipe them off the face of the earth". How much is rhetoric and how much intention? Who knows? If I lived in downtown Tel-Aviv personally I wouldn't want to put it to the test as no anti-missile system is likely to be 100% effective! Israel has a policy of first strike in such circumstances as Iraq found out to its cost with its nuclear power station.

When a rat is cornered, like Iran is over sanctions, it will either cower in the corner or come out fighting, you don't know which until it happens!  :o :o

Just look at the vitriol that was written on this forum in the Stephen Lawrence thread. That was a situation within one country. Race but not religion as far as I was aware. Factor in regime, whipped up hatred by vested interests and a few trigger happy loons on both sides. Elections looming in both the US and Iran and there are some reasons.

Israel does not have the conventional means to take out the sites in Iran.

If it trys, it would have to be with nukes and plenty of them because the sites are well spread around.

The only country with the means of taking them out without is the yanks with a weapon called the big blu  :y
This is basicly a large fuel / air bomb in a penitration case.
The would cause the underground installation to be destroyed by blast / fireball and the earthquake affect.  The problem is, it weighs over 10,000 pounds and can only be dropped from either a B2 stealth bomber or the B1b bomber.

At the end of the day, Iran and its mad mullers have sworn to wipe Israel of the face of the planet and Israel WILL defend itself by ANY means !!

The only reason Obarma gives a toss about Israel is because the Jewish lobby in the USA is so powerful.  In other words .............. VOTES  :y

With the uprises in the middle east, Iran must stand up to the western world because if he doesn't and he looks weak in front of his people, his people will turn against him.

Believe me, this will get worse before it gets better  :y
If it gets better  ;) ;)

There is already much decent from the Internet generation in Iran that has been suppressed in a way that makes the Syrian authorities look like the local vicar!  :o :o :o

I was under the impression that Israel has bunker busters to open up the installations before dropping a tactical nuke down the hole.

Maybe for nothing? Israel's jewish national population is decreasing day by day and not by war losses...Nobody want to live there not even jews from other countries... A question emerges : why to be pushed being of Israel though?  :o :o :o
