For that area, I feel we have few options. Burns Farm, useless inbred retards, wouldn't have us back, nor would most of us wish to go back.  *VERY* few others will take groups.

I seem to recall midges were only a problem on first night, so as others said, luck of draw.

I'm content to go anywhere in the mainland UK - if more than about 4 or 5hrs away, would probably just stay longer to make it worthwhile.

Whilst Newent is a great site, I feel it excludes many members who don't want to travel too far, be it logistical or cost. Same with, for eg, a Cornish/Devon/Kent/Highlands etc.  We have Newent thats within easy reach of Wales/Midlands/South, even London at a push.  Lakes was originally chosen as an area, as it allowed most of Scots members to join in, albeit with a trek for some.

Yorkshire or south Northumberland could fit the bill similarly. Or north end of peaks is fairly central.

I guess it all boils down to who wants to come. Some well known regular members, as its pick on Uncle Albert day, have previously stated no interest in such events. Many others I've never seen at these meets, which is a shame.  If its the usual suspects, no point trekking up to Inverness for example ;)

Count me in, but I haven't voted, as I don't mind either way.

Every day is pick on Uncle Albert day. :P :D...............during the war though, it was different then eh ?  ;D

Migies were a pain, but guess that anywhere in the Lakes would be the same, Kielder area is similar....

Thinking around North Yorks / East Coast there are some lovely area's but I would suggest that finding a site that would allow such a big group and fixing of cars, as others have suggested, may be difficult....... :( :(
That said, York or Harrogate area's would provide entertainment for the widows, should there be any thoughts of the east side... :y

I've had a read through. I liked the site in question although it was a bit of a trek just to drain off after a few scoops & the wash, hit the button shower was a challenge! Also most of us could'nt use our phones or lappies which at first was a shock to the system but once used to the idea was quite liberating....those of us of a certain age managed fine beforehand. Midges will get where they get. Be glad of us few smokers as they hate it as well!!!

Lastly i'd like to see the Lakesmeet stay in the Lakes. We have meets north & south already & i love Cumbria.

I have to agree the midges nearly made me not go this year, this is really why I asked.

Just an Idea but what about a Scotland Meet?

Or where is on the opposite side of the country to the Lakes nice to go? What about more Inland if that makes sense try and stay away from the midges?? same sort of height up the country but away from the Lakes?

Just thoughts
Mind we have mutant phirana midges up here ;D ;D ;D(avoid the west coast)
Why not go for scarbrough, bridlington or north yorks moors

Like someone has already mentioned it is quiet difficult to get somewhere that will take groups, plus allow you to work on your cars...
Maybe less trouble to go back same place..... They do however stress me out chasing for the bloody money ???

Sorry if I missed it, but are there any prospective dates at this point?
