Ford Focus ST
« on: 12 January 2012, 19:58:49 »

Hello all,
My brother is having a mid life crisis and is changing his Ford Sierra for a Focus ST225.
Anybody ever owned one?

Cheers Steve

I think my views of Focus are well known. But I will make exception for ST, although never had the chance to drive one. That amount of power in a fairly light small family car and a chassis thats inherently shite has got to be a massive hoot :y

Bit like beemers, can't stand them, whould never even consider one. Except an M.

Aaah, the ST. Brings back memories. Lovely sound, really torquey engine and great handling. Beware the fuel costs though. Many people buy just to sell it on few months later because they can't afford the fuel bills. Drinks petrol like a fish, no a whale really. I was regularly seeing 15mpg and 22mpg on an exceptionally good day. Maybe hijack a Shell tanker before buying a ST.  ;D

I had one for a month  :y

Fun  :D

Fuel Consumption  >:(

Also had a Mondy with the same engine and that was much much better managing to average 31 which is what the official figure is.

Owned an ST for a brief time, the engine noise is absolutely to die for being a 5 cylinder Volvo engine, great power, terrible fuel cost though, although it was slightly better than my Cooper S Works :o

Got a chance to throw a Focus RS round an industrial estate last sunday........tbh, too much in something that small.... but was fun when not having to worry about rules ;D

Mind you, he's had it 6 months, bought from main dealer with 3k on the clock, & it's been back 6 times for EMS errors ::)

Oh well, that'll teach him  ;)

Does a third hand come out of the dashboard and brace the steering wheel when you floor it?

Did see a Westfield with that 5 pot Turbo engine in once, mated to an Elite sequential gearbox. I think that'd be a much better use for it. :-*

LOL at this thread, the 5 pots in the volvos are the ones to go for IME unless its an RS, having said that though, i left an RS on a dual carriageway in the t5 even when it was standard ;)
