Estate - roof cross bars
« on: 15 January 2012, 20:15:19 »

Hiya fellas, hopefully someone can shed some light on this. Been looking for some cross bars to fit the existing roof bars on my '98 estate. Running around Ebay some ads state '94 - '99 whilst others appear to be for the facelifts '99 - '03. Question is, are the fitted roof rails really any different on the pre and post facelift estates.

Cheers in advance for any advice  :y

I've got a pair of the cheapy Halfords for mine, and they were half price when I got them. Well, I bought them for the Legnum, but they do fit the Omega. So far I've never needed to use them, but it seems daft having a car with roof rails but not the bars to actually use them.
If you're expecting to carry heavy stuff,  then it would make sense to buy better quality bars!

Shouldn't be putting more than 100Kg (?) on the roof anyway ;) ::)

just for your interest and info, you can fit cross bars that are for the Omega A (Carlton) as they are the same as well.
As it's an older car they might be cheaper. I got a set from the Bay of E about two years ago for 35 quid, proper vauxhall ones as well with locks.
Advertised as for an Omega but I use them on my Carlton...... They are great but as mentioned there is a limit, 100kg max loading

Thanks for all the replies fellas, much appreciated. Didn't make sense that they would be different.  Will also have a look for Carlton bars Jon, thanks for the tip  :y
