Rust
« on: 17 January 2012, 18:05:55 »

The rot on the back of my estate is just getting beyond a joke & I was wondering if the facelift models have the same rust weakness & if they do I'm going to have to change my alliance to the Mig  :'( :'( :'(

Hi,

I've seen some with rust, some without. Maybe more to do with how a car's been treated!

Bear in mind also that they're old cars so the rot is expected but with constant love and repair earlier as opposed to later it should be fine.

The usual places on the B, rear arches both sides, both rear quarters from the trim down & the o/s one is the worse as the metal behind the trim has rotten away so much so that the trim flew off today as there is not enough good metal to hold it to. :'( :'(

what year is it, seen loads like you say some good rust killer works and fill the holes up, most seen its were the fuel cap area to the wheel arch, and bottom of the rear doors, also in side compartments where back lights are etc. and a number of migs get two rust rings on back door drivers side, dont know why that is but always in same place.

The plastic ''bin bag'' under the door card covers a few holes as seen when Twiglet was fixing my window. Water got in there through poor seals on window runners perhaps? Just a pure guess as I noticed the holes  :y
