Hi all
       I recently aquired a 2.2cdx 02 plate, I also have a 2.5 elite 99 plate that is going to be scrapped as its a cat c and I've been paid out. Can I transfer the Bose speakers and amp from the elite to the cdx, and would it be worth it without the Bose head unit, or do I need to find a later Bose unit to make it worthwhile. Any suggestions or alternatives would be appriciated, after listening to the Bose for 18 months this standard unit is a bit of a let down.

Will adding the Amp and speakers improve it while I'm looking?

I'm not sure the ancillaries will work with a non- Bose HU

As stated Bose speakers need a Bose configured head unit as they are 2ohm as opposed to 4ohm

Thanks for the info, I suppose the next obvious question is - will a newer head unit to fit my 02 plate link with the Amp out of the 99 plate before I ask if  anyone has one for sale

Look behind the driver`s kickpanel in your Elite where the Bose loom connects to the multi-plug for the HU, if you haven`t got that connector in your F/L you`ll have to make a loom up

Having read the link that Dave DND kindly provided it seems the best option is to move to something entirely different and modern to achieve the sound I want, however, how much of the dash readout will I lose, will it just be the stereo information or will I lose outside temp, mpg, time and other functions?

In my MFL I only lost the central line of the display. You'll need an adaptor to connect aftermarket unit, and there should be an option on it which will allow you to retain the date display permanently. Otherwise that line goes blank.
As I say this is only my own experience in a MFL but I can't see the FL being much different?

Really depends on the stereo system currently fitted - what are you running at present?

Currently CCR2006 and the CD isn't working anyway

Time/date line will go out, but can easily be retained with a quick bit of wiring

Two wires on the electric aerial pin on the main connector - one goes to the rear aerial to power it, the other goes to the display (red/grey rings a bell but not certain?) - Cut and make safe the live ends of the display wire and the time/date will stay on the display
