So, I bought a air flow meter which didn't fit, put the old one back on and my car broke down after about 30 seconds of driving it.  Unplugged the oppser and got the car started again.... then went and bought a Bosch one from a dismantlers, fitted that and the car can't seem to make its mind up whether it wants to work or not.  Read the fault codes again and am now getting 73 - Mass Air Flow Sensor Voltage Low and 74 - Mass Air Flow Sensor Voltage High.  The car is running better but the idling is still pish, it wants to die every time I'm at a junction or roundabout.  What can I try next?

Think I'm getting this thing scrapped.  If anyone wants it give me a shout.

Finally got the thing unplugged, the car runs a little better without it plugged in but it's not a massively noticeable difference...  Still doesn't have power but the gears seem to be less confused (feels like gears just don't want to change when it's plugged in), car is smelling of burning a bit every time I drive it and idling is still low and pretty rough.

you may have a couple of problems.. and the smell reminds me oil in plug wells  .. so check it..

also , if you ask my opinion before scrapping the car , try to visit a close member from here and let him see the car..

probably you have few issues and also OOF mobile mechanics here can help you .. :y

The maf on the 2.5 is fairly reliable. The voltage high might suggest a wiring issue to the maf itself, if so a new/other maf won't help.

Check the plug is seated correctly, no corrosion on the pins or similar. No wiring damage. Etc...?

Also if you pm hotel21 on here he can plug tech2 in and take a closer look.

Don't scrap it for a poxy maf fault.
