Air/con GIZMO ?
« on: 22 January 2012, 11:40:33 »

Today i put the new aux belt on , many of you know i have bypassed the air/con pump and fitted a non air con belt . Thats all on and working fine BUT when i started the car it sounded like a tank , ok on idle but given revs its blowing through the existing disconnected air/con pipe  :o i could leave it like it as it does sound fruity but what dammage if any will this cause . Anyway i have this picture of the GIZMO that i left off so with your advice to stop this noise should i re fit it and all will be well  ???Also if i re connect this ill be left with the 2 pipes to the old condenser exposed but will it blow through this  ::)

Aircon is bottom right when looking from the front of the car(passenger side). Bottom left is alternator. :y

That isn't anything to do with the air con, its part of the secondary air injection system. Refitting it should sort it.

Ok i had no idea what it was , just thought it was to do with the air/con as i disconnected it to gain access to the belt . i thought it held the gas ....at least i can breath a sigh of relief now and put it back on . Sounded like both exhaust gaskets had blown  :o :o

Thanks for you help  :y

Yeah, without that in, in effect you a blowing exhaust gases out just in front of aux belt.  It won't sound pretty ;D
