I also am one of the older drivers, I have to have a DVLA eye test every three years due to an illness, this gives them the power to revoke my licence if I fail it, not a nice position to be in I assure you, yet i have eye tests every six months as part of the monitoring of my illness by the hospital anyway, but DVLA will not accept those results and it is a much better examination I get then.
Please do not put all older people in the same scope, i still consider my driving to be good, but i was taught how to drive properly when i was a young pc, and have driven most things in many different parts of the world since.
Young drivers cause more accidents than older drivers and are just as likely to drive off without informing anyone, hence the high insurance premiums.
sorry to have to get on my high horse but felt that I had to defend the more mature driver.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
