First time this happened on the big green bus, (W reg 2.5 TD est), tried to open the vehicles central locking with the key fob - no joy, first thought fob battery dead. Managed to open car with the key and got the alarm squeal, key in ignition sorted that and engine started.
I have tried synching the fobs with no luck, thought that the fuse had gone, all ok. put booster pack onto car battery to see if that may help, again no luck.
Anybody with any thoughts to the problem?

problem solved, not expensive. the battery holder in the fob has come adrift so not making contact with the wiring, jammed in a bit of paper to hold it down and works a treat.

Battery holder is common fault on post 96 cars, esp facelifts.  Switches are a bit unreliable on facelift ones as well.
