Hi I dont know if any has had this problem or has a solution for it. The engine runs at normal temp. (85-90) but there is no heat or very little heat from the heater even when it is set on hi. Any help gratefully received Thanks

i had exact same problem last week.
done a heater matrix flush, didnt do much. so today i done a complete coolent flush

i used radweld two step flush and you should have seen the gunk that came out, now brand new anti-freeze and coolent and car is lovely and warm again

Unlikely to be thermostat if engine is at correct running temp but would suspect the heater bypass valve and/or blocked heater matrix.

A coolant flush and refill (initially) with water only to see if it now works isn't too bad an idea.  It makes sure you dont waste expensive antifreeze by running it down the drain if you need to do something else to the system but you need to ensure that the outside temp is not freezing cold overnight without antifreeze in.

Where would i find the heater by pass valve. The reason i'm asking its just been in to have new rocker gaskets fitted and theres a plug at the back of the engine thats not connected to anything Would the bypass valve have been disturbed whike they were doing the gaskets ?

No vacuum on the HBV is not a problem in winter because vacuum turns the valve OFF to provide no heating when using the air con in the summer.

Had same problem but then my temp wasnt reading right i had hardly no heat in the car and engine temp was low mine ended being a thermostat and i also flushed the cooling system out really good now . So i would give what the other guys are saying first a go and see what happens.

Interesting, now this was on a pre facelift model, not sure if yours will be the same, but many years ago had a Mig in Vx garage to do some work, crank sensor and cam belt iirc and noticed when I got the car back no heat in footwells, only to screen I went back to the garage and explained the problem, asking if anything they had done which could have caused this, understandably they said no
When I got home I had a good look, now I had previously noticed that the controls worked by vacuum, good scout around and found a vacuum pipe out of place, on the manifold and melted, repaired the pipe and refitted properly and all was well.....
