Not having done one I don't know, but Diseasel's are normally just locked with bolts or pins :-\

Hi Pete

On the crank pulley there are two small slots (as opposed to bolt holes), it appears the genuine GM tool has a pipe type profile (so you can put the socket onto the bolt head through the middle) with two teeth that locate into the slots.

Unfortunately no one seems to make the tool and the dealers are unlikely to loan you theirs, really surprised as it's a common issue on all the 2.0 and 2.2 Diesel engined Vauxhalls!

Mechanic is going to lock the flywheel by accessing it from the starter motor entry. Pain in the butt to remove from what I can see and looking at Jane's estate it looks like that one is about to fail as well.

Wouldn't object to buyng the tool if it wasn't too expensive and loaning it out to anyone who needs it.

Yes. With a handle attached.

Official tool is KM-977-1 and can be found on here:-

I think KM-956 slots in to brace the pulley so that it's loaded evenly as you torque it up.

Certainly be a useful tool for the forum members to have access too.

One thing that will need to be considered is the space you have between the radiator and the crank pulley.

Ah, can see the two slots that the tool fits into.

Have we got an old pulley part that I can use as a template?
