Goo in the breather bridge

Hi Guys

Miggy's ticking over a bit rough (and sometimes, but only rarely, conks out when quickly shifting into reverse), so I'm in the process of plenum spring clean, replace dis pack, leads and spark plugs.

Just got the plenum off and started to clean the breather bridge. Yellowy goo was oozing out of the the left hand smaller tube of the four breather tubes at the top. Plenty of mayo came out of that baby. I took piccies but can't seem to attach them.

Normal... :) or something horrible?  :'(

Normal i would've thought, although quite a lot. I had some small bits of mayo when I last cleaned my breathers 3k ago. Just keep on top of it. I do mine every 3k with an oil change

Seems to be a lot of coil packs being replaced just recently, around here i know of a few that have been replaced ...unusually 3.0 elites  ::)

Don't forget the quick way of cleaning out the breather pipes. Stick an air line in one end, POINT IT AWAY FROM YOU, and turn on the air.  :y :y :y  ;D ;D ;D

I know this is a real rookie question but has anyone got any tips for getting the windscreen wiper arms off? Mine are stuck on like a real bastard and I don't want to bust anything trying to get them off. Cheers.

You should really have started a new topic  ;) ;) ;)

remove the nut, then waggle the arm slightly and they'll usually come off quite easily. Failing that, you can buy a specific puller for wiper arms although I don't particularly rate them ( & yes, I do have one  ;))

The way that I've always done it is to undo the nut  but not remove it, then fold the arm @ the hinge so that the blade is not resting on the screen and gently but firmly rock the arm against the spindle/splines. The reason not to take the nut off totally is to prevent you whacking yourself in the face when it suddenly frees itself.

One more thing...(sorry AndyB for not starting a new thread) BUT when I reconnect the battery is there anything I should know about - i.e. power sounder going off or can I just reconnect? Cheers.

power sounder wont go off  :y
radio will need re-coding unless ncdc xxxx
windows will need resetting
sunroof will need resetting if you have one
thats about it  :y
