Has announced a major restructuring. Sounds ominous. :-\
Details to be announced later apparently.

They should get rid of the shit Rebadged Daewoos and leave Vauxhall and Opel alone. Instead of that they want to carry on making cars which are useless.

Hard to understand why they are doing so badly in Germany, I mean, where's the competition?  ;D

Creative accounting? Move the losses to the least damaging area, then cut the whole lot loose....?

I can't see why you would be worried about vauxhall. The omega and senator days are long gone. All they make now is run-of-mill saloons, no different from anyone else.

I reckon that they put the Chevy name on Daewoos as they were intending to use it instead of Opel and Vauxhall . Something that really should have happened years ago. In much the same way that they binned all the tenuously 'different' US brands like Pontiac, Buick etc. After all, the Omega isn't a Vauxhall, it's purely Opel. It's not as if Chevy means much to most Europeans, so getting them used to the name, by using it on  cars that weren't important probably looked a good idea.

Although GM  also managed to waste the Saab brand by letting them bugger about with the bits that people wouldn't see(electrics, suspension etc) without doing the worthwhile, visible stuff.

The Daewoo and Chevy names are big in the Ukraine as the investment and profits were backed by Ukrainian 'businessmen' ::) ::) and hence the big import duties on all foreign vehicles except if they are imported in kit form and 'manufactured locally' ie. remove a few bits like seats for assembly locally, but as foreign vehicles they are still very expensive.  :o :o :o

To import my miggy into the Ukraine is impossible as RHD, but if LHD would cost due to age and engine size a modest encouraging to do it, small $12,000.  :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

Hence, second hand cars are very expensive at least x4 UK prices.  >:( >:( >:(

You can buy a new Daewoo or Chevy for around $8,000, but for a Ford or other western manufacturer you are looking at $15,000 upwards. A 2001-2002 Ford Galaxy 2.0 tractor will cost you about $11,000 (£7500), I know where I'm looking for an economical load carrier when I'm over there.  :o :o :o

Well, not until recently. Now it means "cheap, nasty, based on a regurgitated 1980's design FWD sh1tbox". ;)
