Even the "so called victims" mother turned round and said the lad was only asking a bloody question and ment no malace by it 

Does this happen in other parts of this country or anywhere else on this planet or is it just round here

Tell me about it 

I was brought up to treat people how I find them. Regardless of what colour skin they happen to have or what sexual preference they have at bedtime.  Thats also the way I have brought up my son 
I was always taught to call it (without malice) the way I see it.

Sadly, we now have another situation where a 7 year old kid is now scared to ask a genuine question incase it offends somebody and he gets into trouble

Why oh why are the 'responsible' adults fitting their views to a 7 year old.

As stated in some of the comments to that article, there is a way of using that word, discrimination, in one of two ways, one way good, yellow peg, blue peg kind of thing and the other, more worldly way.....the way an adult would use the word and the most oft meaning, to discriminate, racially.  A child of 7, unless taught very early, has no knowledge of the meaning, let alone the spelling, of discrimination in that second context.
in fact I doubt if any 7 year old would be able to understand that they are taught to discriminate (tell the difference) right from the get go.

I find it totally incomprehensible that the school took the stance that they did, then hide behind the 'rules'.

As for the city council and Mr Abel Rivera, shame on them, I say, shame on them.

Must admit I chuckled when I saw the boys mother's name was WHITE though

One has to ask the question of the school as to why the child they had under thier care had reached the age of seven without being educated or informed in any way of the facts behind the question he asked.

Clearly if it is as repoerted then there is no racial intent.

I think the LEA and the school need to get a grip on the reality of this incident.

I can't believe what I've read, free speech seems to have died out in this country!

Young children are not inherently racist but are susceptible to the views and prejudices of people around them.  The extreme response to an innocent question has now planted the seed of racism in young minds....well done that school!  Disgusting!  Though I suspect a genuine enough response to the softly softly approach this country is fostering towards minority groups.  We seem to be far too fearful of upsetting non white, british people to the point where our children are wrong to ask questions and our adults afraid to support them in their curiosity.

Our son was accused of racism aged 5, despite the fact that he is autistic and racism is far too abstract a concept for him to understand.  School were reluctant to sort it, the way I dealt with it, wrong I know, was to grab hold of the father involved until he explained to me in broken english what his problem was!  Apparently our son looked at his daughter and upset her!  Wow, how racist was that!

This country has gone mad, we are far too soft and need to stand up for our own cultural identity and nevermind pussy footing round others.

I think my favourite ''racist'' incident was when I colourfully told someone what I thought of their driving after they had run me off the road.  He asked me if I'd had a go at him because he was black, reply was equally as colourful!

I hate it when people hide behind their ethnicity, it's pathetic!  Grow a backbone the lot of you!
