Not sure if this meets the right section but I'm sure it can be moved if not.

having found I'm going to be a dad later this year my wife has been buying baby stuff and obviously the baby seat came up, I said as we had front air bags the seat would have to be in the back, not sure I would want to switch off passenger air bag even if it were possible?

Does anyone have some good advice,

Unfortunately my wife bought a maxi cosi pushchair system that has an option of clipping the seat into pushchair and into a base that is fixed in your car, according to amazon it will fit most cars and after she bought it the manufacturers website says it won't fit an Omega, Then she said the words "we will have to change the car"

I had the same issue when ruby was born December 2010. She went in the back from day 1 as there isn't an airbag deactivation switch.

Bought a maxi cosy seat that fits the omega.

Are you expecting a boy or a girl? Or is it going to be a surprise

We believe it will be a girl so very happy, sorry to ask but which one did you fit? My wife wanted the one you clip out from a base that is fixed in car(iso fit? not on omegas) that then clips into pushchair to save all the seatbelt faff

Hi Pete. We bought a maxi cosy pebble car seat. Cost 150 very secure and padding is excellent. Its pink and black and is one of the best available.

Suitable up to 12 months.

Ruby is now 14 months and have just bought a forward facing seat.

If your struggling im selling the maxi cosy seat. We rarely used it in the end as hayley doesn't drive and went everywhere by pram.

Some later cars have a childseat sensor fitted to the front passenger seat which disables the airbag.I believe it will say so on the side of the seat if one is fitted.

But that needs to 'talk' to a specific Vauxhall supplied seat.

After chatting again to my wife she says she would not want it in the front now anyway so not a problem

It was checked at mothercare. I still have the paperwork somewhere.

IF you have the child seat sensor (indicator on interior light)
Then you need a Britax base with built in transponder to shut off the airbag.
No other safe option..  kids safest in the back anyway.

ISOFIX, unlikely to be in your car, was a factory fit option.

Which leaves you with the standard seat belt retainers.
Some of these clip round a base, you then click the car seat in and out at will
Some clip round the actual child seat and are a bit more of a faff.
You may find you want a towel or something like a gripliner between the seat and childseat to improve the 'fit'

And one other personal thing....The lift in and out car seats are ok...for the 1st couple of months.  Then baby gets heavier, and they are quite awkward.
Yes they are convienint to lift in and out, esp if baby is asleep etc....
If I had my time again, not sure I would bother, and just put in a more fixed solution - group 0,1,2 car seat and just move the baby. such as these : http://www.mothercare.com/combinations-car-seats/b/44451031?intid=catlp_carseats_puff_2

Looks like seat would fir with seat belt retainer but not with family base fix system (isofix) not fitted on my car
