Gen chat does tend to go in ebs and flows but I think there are things that aren't helping.
The fact that there have been a few witch hunts to get rid of the folk who like to talk political stuff, I've no interest in it nor the intelligence to understand most of it but it's all valid.
The fact that subjects can be frowned upon as it's a car forum is another.
People nit picking that they've seen stuff posted before, if someone finds it interesting enough to share then why not, chances are there are others who haven't seen it either, does it matter at the end of the day? The phrase 'There's nowt new under the sun' applies here.
Jokes are another, I enjoyed a giggle or a groan at jokes but now it's got a dedicated thread I don't even read them as they've lost their appeal somehow.
Skruntie's posts were picked at but they got people talking. I know we have to be family/women/ethnic minority aware but maybe we've got a bit too neurotic and have lost our sense of fun about life. Ultimately we are a car forum for folk who drive or have an interest in Omega's, generally people who drive, hence being 17+, so adult content debate is to be expected.
Can we fix it? No, sadly OOF is no longer what it once was.
Call Bob the Builder

All valid point Ljay... I still stand by the theory that it is the time of year. Gen Chat has gone a bit quiet at this time of year every year I have been a member and picks up when the meets start up again, with a massive increase in traffic around the time of meets.
We do seem to be treading very, very carefully at the moment for some reason

Perhaps the admin team should let Pinky loose with full rights for a couple of hours again... That evening had me in stitches

Can it be fixed? Well, I think that's something that keeps getting discussed

As I have said, my time here has reduced due to other commitments but I have noticed that I can come online and catch up within an hour or so where it used to take much longer

The fact that there is a lot more help traffic is a good thing IMO. That is, after all, what this forum is primarily about

But I/we have made many friends through here, some of them what I would class as good friends, and that has made my whole OOF experience worthwhile

I'm still sure it will all improve again in the next few months

But do have to agree that the banter isn't what it used to be

I sometimes find myself deleting whole posts I have typed out because I read them again and think that there's bound to be someone who will take offence

Of course, when the banter is in full flow you then get people who complain that it's too "Cliquey"

It is, IMHO, one of those situations where you can't please all of the people all of the time
