Kenny Butrey  who played on Blonde on Blonde, John Wesley Harding and Nashville Skyline, top man and as a bit of a drummer myself I rate him very highly.

Gene Krupa by a country mile,
played with all the greatest swing bands to come out of the 30's depression, Benny Goodman, Jimmy Dorsey, Tommy Dorsey, Glen Miller, Artie Shaw, Count Basie, the list goes on but i will stick there.

It's got to be "Animal" ;)

Agreed, nobody has yet managed to beat him for stage presence!  ;D

Neil Peart for me  :y

Saw Rush at the NEC 86ish (Power Windows tour)

Imo, one of the very best live bands you can spend your money on  :y

As for keeping a perfect beat, Slappy Collins would be right up there with the best.

Rick Allen (Def Lepperd)  One arm but still bloody good.
Plays most of the kit with his feet using a mechanical linkages to the various drums  :o

Cozy Powell and Chester Thompson are also well up there  :y

"Moon the Loon"

One of the greatest drummers ever and was part of one of the greatest Rock bands ever.

And while we are at it Entwistle has to be up there with one of the best Bass players as well
