Title: New toy
Post by: Gaffers on 18 October 2012, 18:28:16
It's a jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag man!  :P :P :P :P

Yup, goldie has been naughty and as I fix one problem another unfolds so I have decided to retire her to the big fat breaker in the sky :'(  I will be breaking her for parts and moving the lpg kit on to this:

And yes, it's the proper jag with the Straight 6:

I picked her up for a song with no MOT which she passed today with only a few advisories.  Happy days  8)

(Right, now to get a hold of Teilo for a 91L spare wheel tank!)

Beautiful car!
Sure is. Personally, not the right colour for a Jag, but great cars, if occasionally stubborn.

I like the colour & even the pale interior.

The colour looks best in person, and it will look better once I have done a little work to it  :y

And 'only' 321hp on these unless I upgrade the pulleys on the SC  ::)  Still pulls like a train and leaves most things behind  :y

Nice. Always fancied one of those myself but one has never turned up in the right condition at the right price and right time. Yet...

I have been given the details of that place before, I didn't that's where you worked :y

My priority is the lpg kit and that is rated to 320hp.  This means that I will already be pushing the kit to the max and thus have to set it to switch over to petrol at a certain, as yet undetermined, rev range.  Although tempted by the pulley upgrade I dont think it wise as yet (unless I upgrade the vaporiser ::) hmmmmm )

Looks like a tidy example, these are known for cracking exhaust manifolds and for sticking throttle bodies, the throttle bodies are horrible to remove to clean them on the SC straight six lumps though they do pull really well for a big car.

Yup and it still works, as do the folding wing mirrors, not bad for a 15 year old car :y

Yes there is an area which was highlighted in the MOT, 1st skin already gone.  I need to treat what's left and see if it needs a patch repair.  I think I see a welding course on the horizon  ;D ;D

I like those cars..  :y

but problem is my citizens like them also..  even a 20 year old jag costs much more than an omega..

and parts are either non-existent or astronomic..  :-\

Don't bother with Teilo for the tank... He has to order from elsewhere so probably easier to source yourself ;)

As for bigger Vap... If you're going to upgrade the pulleys you're probably looking at a twin vap setup anyway :-\

Seth, it won't fit in the JAG boot so I have to go toroidal.  I'll be offering it up to the membership unless you want first dibs?

Autos are lacking some of the rear suspension supports and I think the rear ARB, plus they don't have LSD. You might like to get an exchange rear subframe from a scrap manual....?

You can get mixer systems for tractors  ;)

System squirts a little lpg in to help it burn better and giving you more grunt  ;)
