Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Battery drain fault
« on: 23 May 2008, 22:08:13 »
My old omega ( which I sold to a mate) has developed a battery drain fault, when I swopped the battery for another one I noticed it arced when I reconnected, with the ignition off surely no power should be going anywhere. The charging light goes off when the engine starts, I know sometimes a relay can be faulty leaving accesories connected when the  ignition switch is off, has anyone else come across this fault ? any help will be much appreciated  ;)

It's the factory CDR 500, which works ok, but I would like to play MP3s so if I fitted a new head unit I would lose the dash display ( just the clock, radio & outside temp type) any advice?...thnx ..Phil :-/

Omega General Help / Re: Hydraulic clutch adjustment
« on: 25 April 2008, 14:56:23 »
Quote
anything wrong with changing just the friction plate? seem to remember its loads cheaper than an entire clutch pack, and that you can reasonably get two friction disks out of 1 pressure plate.

It would be false economy to change just the friction plate as the spring in the cover will be getting tired also, although I am guilty of doing it in the past :-[

Hi Gary, ever since Iv'e owned my miggy (6 mnths) the temp gauge has been a bit erratic, sometimes goes quite high but if I tap the dash it drops down again, so could be bad joint on back of gauge but rather than tear it all apart to see what's going on I just put up with it, have any other oofers had this prob I wonder? Of course your prob may be caused by something completly differant :-/ p.s. I went in the hooden on the green in mitcham back in the summer & came out unscathed LOL...phil

Omega General Help / engine shut off switch
« on: 23 July 2007, 21:54:27 »
A few cars I've owned in the past have had a engine shut off switch  which shuts off the engine in the event of a frontal impact, sometimes found in the boot & resettable. Does the omega have one?

Omega General Help / Re: A question of balance
« on: 23 July 2007, 21:27:08 »
Yes I think the wheel balance was a bit Mickey Mouse, my wheels are alloys & they used the crimp on weights >:(, might have to take it to Thik Fit if I can trust them to do it right :-/

No not the album by the moody blues, but its my wheels, when i first got my car there was a vibration at speed so I got the front ones balanced. It didnt help that much & now when I go over 70 ( on private land) yea right, theres a whole lotta shakin going on, like ive got square wheels till I go over 95. I'm wondering if it's the back wheels? :(

Omega General Help / electric sunroof sticking
« on: 11 June 2007, 17:40:27 »
My sunroof has been playing up for a while, tried greasing the sliders but not much improvement, had the motor off & slid it open & shut by hand, seems to slide easier when it's open a third to fully. Is there any adjustment on it? cause it is sticking a bit I have to hold the button in  to get it shut (frosted up mode) any suggestions please? mind you the way this summers going might not need to open it much :(

Omega General Help / Re: Clutch vs Engine

Mines a manual & its sweet as a nut, goes in all the gears easy & positive, but then it's a mans gearbox not a girly auto ;D  might be low oil in box or in need of a  change of oil causing the probs  ;)
