Omega General Help / Re: Interior Fans Not Working
« on: 20 February 2008, 16:55:57 »
You'll be pleased to know I traced it back to a dodgey ignition switch, the 6 Pin plug that the barrell fits into changed that from one from a scrappy that cost me a fiver and hey presto the fans are working.
I can only asume something inside the plug has broken and not powering the fans up.

Omega General Help / Re: Cam Cover Gaskets

Cam cover gaskets should take a garage just over two hours which should include extensive breather cleaning.

When I said it we started at 12:45 and finshed at 16:30 we did but that did include a trip to Mcdonalds and a few tea breaks. But thats probably what a mechanic in a garage wuld probably do anyway :o  ;D

Started at 12:45 today and changed both cam Covers for new items from Vauxhall and finished at 16:30. That was with 2 of us doing it it wouldn't be so bad if the right bank (as you look at the engine) wasn't coved in half the wiring harness.
I changed just the seals in November and they leaked again within 3 Weeks (yes I had done all the breathers too)
So I've changed both of the cam cover for new ones with seals straight from Vauxhall Selly Oak Birmingham for £62.10 + VAT Each
Fingers crossed we'll see how it goes.
I'd say 3 to 4 hours labours is about right as my mate is a Mechanic and i'm an Engineer and thats how long it took us.

Omega General Help / Location of Oil Level Sensor?
« on: 04 January 2008, 17:11:12 »
I got "Oil Lack" come up on the trip computer so I checked the oil level to make sure I wasn't driving around on Oil Vapour but found the oil level was spot on.
So I assume that either the lead has fell off the sensor or the sensor has had it, but where abouts is it?

If you need a hand I can pop over but will have to be one evening after work (in which case you'll need a lamp or lit garage to work in!)

Cheers mate much aprecatied, i'll see what the garage say Monday morning and i'll let you know

Omega General Help / Leaking Cam Covers
« on: 22 September 2007, 15:47:26 »
I had leaking cam cover gaskets, so being the lazy bugger that I am I got a local garage to change them for me, now they are leaking again both sides dripping on to the exhaust manifold and causing smoke and as you'd imagine quite a crappy smell in the car.
I took it back to the garage and without even looking at it they said the cam cover are probably warped and thats why they are leaking so soon (3 weeks after being change) are they just talking crap because they don't want to reapir it for free? or its it a common prolem which they make out? I have looked for some cam covers but no one but vauxhall seems to do them and they want £98 plus the vat each!!!

The machine they put it on at the place I had it tracked was quite fancy all connected up to a PC, it showed the Camber too, it was spot on, on the Nearside and only 2 degrees out on the offside, would that be enough to make it pull so much to the left?

So, why did these muppets do the tracking before working out there is a problem with the steering?

They only looked like YTS's but it's the only place I could find that would track the back up as well!
