So they are non directional. Would have thought for a belt this was quite important?Vauxhall deleted the marks about 3 years ago (why i don`t know)but as long as you have the locking tools etc its not that important as a general rule if the belt has no arrows on it the writing on the belt must be the right way i.e facing you so you can read it.
I have never ever ever ever ever ever ever seen a GM gearbox ecu fail. I seriously doubt yours has.Agree with the boy it sound very much like a range switch as i also have never heard of a gearbox ecu failing
Do the LEDs by gearstick always light up as expected, or do the all light up sometimes, or even flash? If this do not light up properly, change selector switch.
Failing that, need to get gearbox ECU codes read. There is a nice chap in Nottingham call Marks DTM Calib who can read codes for you, though he is a busy man trying to move house.
The fact that you can still drive like a manual shows the ECU is still functioning.
One last thing, is the Engine Management light on, and if not, does it come on with ign?
QuoteUnfortunety the dealers don`t make the prices up vauxhall do they are the ****s
'Stealers' are the scum of the earth.....pariahs, all of 'em.

i know they are only 8nm but would any harm be done by being a bit belt and braces and doing them up tighter? Say 15nm?I have seen this before!!!! once only but same bolt and i noticed it also when doing the cam cover gaskets that car is one we sold and serviced from new and we had never been there before there may of been a stony working at the engine plant that left a few loose??
Cant help thinking it would not take much for it to vibrate loose at 8nm? Yes it only holds the cam but the valves aint far away, 8nm only holds the plastic cam covers. I know what your going to say, 8nm is good enough as the book says, but what harm could be done doing it up tighter as, must confess, i am a bit tempted.
