Baza, I couldn't leave here. I have a few other cars and use a few other forums. (Escort MK1, MX5, Jag, Bedford) but this forum really is just a bit more special (as well as the cars). I'll be checking in when life lets me...

Sadly one day these will all be classics and beautiful to drive. I just posted on here about having to get rid of mine... There's a slight nudge on the NSF wing but noting to difficult to sort. beyond that its close to mint. I don't know of any rust anywhere on it! MOTs for 18 years have been a piece of cake...

The 21st Century is a ...busy place and time was never plentiful enough.
My Omega has been parked on the drive for a couple of years (needing a little doing) but "Senior Management" and other pressures on the space are forcing removal. I've had it 18 years and though I've driven all sorts of cars all over the world, nothing comes close to the perfection achieved in the Omega.
Though I haven't posed on here for quite some time, I have to say this is an excellent forum with a great collection of helpful and knowledgeable members. A very big thanks to all for the excellent help and support that I received whenever I needed it. You never let me down!

Welcome James. I see you don't drive. Not a surprise with the insurance theft required at your age! Just a thought... when cars get to some arbitrary age 20something years I think, you can get classic insurance which is a different kettle of fish in terms of cost. Check it out. The oldest omegas can't be too far off. Get one some how. They're very addictive for the simple joy if driving them.

mmm... had a look on Autotrader... nice motors I'm sure but has a sort of flavour of ...Astra to me. I prefer the Caprice. Almost identical to the Omega.

Point taken Kevin. I would have thought though that, assuming the periferals were reusable, that a good eneral strip down, cleaning and rebuilding with new seals, apart from the labour element cost wouldn't be that great. If reconned thoroughly, is mileage of any significance? I'll bow to your knowledge.

Doesn't sound like a great idea to go far far in this condition. I did a top end rebuild a few years ago and shortly after developed an un pleasant misfire. Eventually it was the HT leads. Maybe the poking and prodding around isn't good if the leads are old. Could try running it in the dark and checking for any signs of arking but unless the leasd are relatively new i'd try changing them...
