I'm also a noob on here,(and funnily enough asked the same question yesterday!).I did the comparison thing but didn't get a resonable quote so in the end went for Adrian Flux: 1997 2.5CDX Estate,no NCB,(3rd car).Parked on the drive/£750 value,Fully Comp £275.Might be worth giving them a buzz if you're....mature....(like me... :()

Before I make out  the cheque to Robyou & Scarper insurance brokers, are there any club-friendly brokers/insurance discounts to be had?.Gonna be used as a hobby car,my current quote is a tad high, not hideous but,"every little helps",as they say....

Hi Dan,

Nice car. Tints are good!

Where in Bedford are you? Until now I've been a lonely Bedford member, good to see another one. Bung your marker on the OOF Map if it isn't there already.

As above, do the cam-belt etc. that's the best bet; by the time you're finished you won't have much dosh left, but you'll have a car you KNOW you can rely on. :y
A little to the east of Bedford actually, not far from the A1.Bought the car from Kempston so you might have seen it in town already. Is there a local group/meet round this area?

A fine looking car. Particularly like that blue.

Spending the rest...?

Cam belt kit. £110
HBV. £30
Crank sensor. £30.
DIS pack. £120.
Cam cover gasket set. £62.

These seem to be the inevitable cost of owning a petrol Miggy, you might as well buy the bits up front. £350.  :( :( :(

Still, nice motor and I like the tints. Adds class IMO.  :y
Cam belt was done 7000 miles ago,new discs etc 12k ago, quite a few odds and s*ds Invoices came with the car..HBV?...DIS pack?...blimey,I better read the Haynes manual that came with it,I've never heard of those  :o

Won an ebay auction for a 98 2.5 CDX Estate yesterday.(pic in gallery)Exhaust blows a bit,one tailgate strut u/s,couple of tiny paint scabs...but it drives lovely,a/c is icy cold, stereo works etc..,so now I need some advice:after rectifiying the little defects listed, what should I spend the rest of my budget on?...(before the missus finds out I've got some dosh left over.. ;D)
