Yeah I thought of an lpg conversion as it really does make a difference.  But then saying that My cherokee only does about 16 to the gallon.  I'd love to know what an lpg conversion feels like on a V6 omega......just to see.  It's fine in a 4.0 straight six but I wonder if the vx motor is a bit too 'fragile' to be used like that.........oh god decisions decisions!!!!!! :-/ :-/

24mpg will probably be a pleasant bonus for you!

I've had a 2.5 V6 for just over 18 months.  Fuel economy is not bad for the size of the car and engine although I was hoping for a bit more.  Maybe it's the way I drive it but I get about 300 - 340 miles to a tank which the trip equates to an average of 24mpg ish.

I've heard manual cars are quite a bit better in the ecnomy department.

I drove a 2.0 recently and was also pleasantly surprised by the power and obvioulsy the fuel economy was better This was a manual car and I think as good as the auto's are, they do sap a fair bit of power.

One thing that is a plus with a V6 is the noise - Modify your airbox, find a tunnel, enjoy!

You could try the BP round the corner from my work - 102 Ron but it is £2.40 ish a litre.

If Omega's are anything like Cavalier Mk3's then there should be a relay under the bonnet which if inserted one way optomises the car for 95 Ron and the other way for 97/98 Ron.

In my Omega, I use the cheapest I possibly can.

Omega General Help / Re: HELP!! LOCKED OUT OF MY MIGGY!!!!!!!
« on: 18 November 2008, 21:35:27 »
I had the opposite problem with mine - I couldn't lock it.  Then if I sat in the drivers eat it once locked but immediately unlocked again.  I bought a new battery but I had to put the keys in the ignition before it would work again

Certain oils are more prone to this as well - Castrol being a particularly bad one that springs to mind.

Vx own oil seems to be good at reducing this, but I guess with lots of short journies will still happen.

I've noticed this on a few occasions and I've only been using Castrol Oil, usually 10W40 GTX Pro.  I always thought it was condensation but the niggling thought that it was head gasket never went away.  Maybe it will now

Omega General Help / Re: Alarm Sounder catching fire

It's a 96 P-reg.  I've cut the wires and removed the sounder so it won't happen again...   ...touch fake wood dash

Omega General Help / Alarm Sounder catching fire
« on: 18 November 2008, 20:28:56 »
I've just remembered after posting the last post about an interesting and highly dangerous occurrence with my Omega.

On the way to work I noticed smoke coming from the offside corner of the car.  Thought nothing of it as it was a cold morning and could have been someone else's exhaust vapour.

Anyway when I got to work I noticed flames between the bonnet and scuttle.

Quickly got a fire extinguisher and put it out and found it was the alarm sounder.

Luckily it is just the alarm sounder that is damaged along with a small amount of loom attached to it.

The thing that makes me worry is that a colleague who owned a 3.0 V6 Elite had the same problem but the car was written off.

This leads me to believe that this could be a common problem and if so shoultn't Vauxhall issue a recall.

Has anyone else had this and does anyone know if Vauxhall are aware?

Omega General Help / Re: Poly V Belt Pulley - 2.5 V6
« on: 18 November 2008, 20:32:44 »
Wow you guys are quick on this forum!

The thing I need to know is whether it is an easy fix or is the anything complicated to remove before trying to fix it?  I noticed there were a couple of air con pipes in the way but as far as I can see thats all that needs to be moved/removed

Omega General Help / Poly V Belt Pulley - 2.5 V6
« on: 18 November 2008, 20:21:53 »
My 2.5 V6 has had a bit of a problem.  The top off side pulley for the PolyV Belt/Alternator Belt has Disintergrated, leaving just the bearings attached to the engine.  The belt was fine so it must have been something wrong with the pulley.

Is this a common fault and is it an easy fix?

Hi,  I'm Phil and I own a 96 P-reg Omega 2.5 CDX Auto Saloon.

I've been a Vauxhall nut for years and have owned this car since May 07 after wanting one for nearly 10 years after I was taen for a spin in a brand new one as a schoolboy.  I must say having one hasn't dissapointed - in performance at least!

Fuel economy is a bit cack though.

Each to their own.  I was offered the Samsung Tocco by Vodafone but I could not get on with it where as, despite the limitations, my iphone is easily the best phone I've had along with a Nokia 7110.

I've tried a Blackberry Storm and I didn't much like it but then I know plenty of people who hate my phone

Selling it Lizzie.......I'll wager it went years ago.......not many....if any 22 year old virgins about....Enterprising young woman though. :y :y :y

Jimmy Carr was a virgin until he was 26.  Having said that I can't think of any women who've made it to that age without sex from their own personal choice (I'm not counting anyone who is religous or ugly)
