Although not Omega specific, I was hoping some of the experts here can help.
I run an old Porsche 944 and am getting a whining interference noise through the in car speakers. It increases with engine speed  - anyone know of any products and procedures to suppress the interference? ::)
TIA

Hi Mark

Pollen filter is cheapish white one bought from Autovaux - 3rd one I have fitted over the years with no (seemingly) detrimentel effect.
Will get under dash this weekend and check recirc. flap.

Thanks Kevin - recirculate is the word I was looking for.
From memory, the noise from the fan/air increased when the the recirc. button was pressed and it does not seem to do that now. I reckon its a problem with the flap, just wandered if anyone had delved in there before to give me a few tips. Can you access the flap via the two central dash vents or is it better from underneath (ie glove box / centre consul area)
Pollen filter is pretty new but will check drain hole and also air vents in boot.

Climate control starting to play up - windows misting up as though re-cycle button was pressed even though it isn't. Anyone had similar problems?

Omega General Help / remote key re-programming
« on: 20 July 2007, 10:10:27 »
So i bought a newish key fob from flea-bay thinking that by using the original chip from the old key fob and then re-programming it using the procedure outline in handbook all would be well. Doh. Do i really have to take it to Vaux garage for it to work? :'(

Omega General Help / Key fob
« on: 16 February 2007, 08:07:14 »
Both key fobs now playing up on wifes Omega - have changed battery several times over the years and am aware there is a problem as you can see where one of the legs that seems to go in to the curcuit board from the battery holder is loose.
Question is, anyone know of someone who does repairs or is a replacement better? If so, is it a dealer part only?
TIA

Omega General Help / 2.2 - Saga  - FYI
« on: 18 January 2007, 09:54:16 »
EML light been coming on occasionaly for last 6 months with no ill effect. Exhaust been blowing a bit (will be sorted this week) However, last 3-4 weeks car been down on power and will not idle from cold - stalls and seems to mis-fire when driving.
Paid dealer in Glasgow £63 for Tech 2 read out. Came up with P0170 for lean exhaust but could not be 100% as hole in exhaust - quoted £500 plus for exahaust ;D
Anyhoo, said no thanks, picked up car (still running like a pig) and drove home. Took out MAF, got a cotton bud soaked in solvent and wiped the three sensor wires inside MAF (some dirt left on bud) Put MAF back in and started car. Car was cold but idled perfectly. Took for a test drive - drives superb. Wife drove it to work and back yesterday (motorway speeds and around 50-60 miles) no problem. May be a bit early but cleaning wires or maybe just re-connecting MAF in to wiring harness has made a difference.
MOT due Monday, I'll fit new front discs and pads (done them many times on other cars - anything to watch for?) But need new OSR coil spring (broken) - any one know where to go for one?
Other jobs to do soon is replace cam shaft gasket and seals (got oil in #2 plug well) and clean all breather pipes. If anyone has Vauxhall part number for required gaskets for these 2 jobs it would be a big help.
Thanks  - great forum - keep it up :y

Omega General Help / 2.2 plug well oil
« on: 12 January 2007, 13:46:32 »
Following earlier posts, have decided to take off coil pack / HT leads this weekend and check plugs. If there is oil down the plug wells, what exactly does this indicate? Have done a search but can't seem to find the definitive answer. My earlier post was ref. CEL staying on and engine hesitating/under-powered

I'll clean the breathers before taking it to Vauxhall - anybody got the part numbers of the throttle body and breather sump gasket?

let you know what I find

yup - starts first time - although it has been a bit lumpy of late and takes a few seconds to settle to an even idle

thanks Tunnie - and thanks Mark J

Changing the coil pack is a doddle - it has to come off to change the plugs which I have done. I can get a replacement for £70 which seems OK - just wish I could be sure it was this without taking it to dealer to get codes read. Is there no way of sticking a wire bridge in a connector somewhere so it flashes the codes on the CEL on the dash? Done this many times on my old Audi and the Impreza.
