thanks for that,
the rubber broke up allowing the pulley to for off.
reading up on the net it seems common,
ebay have them at over a £120 i think i`d rather get a new one as the same thing may happen to a 2nd hand one.
i`m hoping its just the one big bolt holding it on.

the same thing happened to my 406 hdi managed to get 1 from the local breakers yard for £20  need to watch for that it my car

i have a 325 tds and replaced it with an 2.2 dti i prefer the omega its better on fuel its more responsive at lower rev range and better gearing than the bmw i would be looking for a diesel omega than doing that conversion

if thats any help to you

try cleaning and greasing the caliper sliders they are prone to ceasing on most cars use copper grease tho it lasts longer with the heat build up

Both the 2.2 petrols and diesels need to be put on a code reader to get the codes. One of the admins (Hotel21) isn't too far from you in sunny Fife, worth a PM ;) :y

thanks mate i will give him a shout

thanks mate not got off to a good start not even a wk and the alternator jst packed in i hope this isnt a sign as to how things are goin to go with the car

The DTi is a quite a reliable lump & so long as the oil's changed regular, you should have a trouble free motor.
If you can, remove the cat as it's not needed for MOT etc. You'll gain extra all round power & increased MPG. I removed all silencers & the cat. I replaced the back box with free flowing twin pipe. The power increase is certainly noticeable & i gained an extra 3mpg :)

thanks mate i will give that a go was planning on chipping the car see how that goes first
