Omega General Help / Re: Air con wont work
« on: 11 September 2009, 22:55:24 »
Hiiii solved it, It was just a fuse. I checked the aircon fuse (large 30amp) but looks like there is another one (small 30amp).
Thanks for your help and i'll bare the tins of gas for the future. No doubt it'll ned topping up at some point.

Omega General Help / Air con wont work
« on: 10 September 2009, 23:47:46 »
Hiiiii Went down the A5 today for a trip to Glastonbury, nice warm day and the bleedin aircon is dead.
I did a quick check of the 30 amp fuse (no 33) and looked to see if any buttons had stuck in, but all seems ok.
Got back late tonite so I havnt had a thorough check to see if eveything else is ok but so far all other electrics seem to be fine.
Any Ideas as what I might be looking for ?????
Thanks Russ

cheers all,
Just had the car in the garage and they did a compression test and stuck the MOT rod up the exhuast.
Looks like the gasket is leaking water into number 4 cylinder and the CO2 reading from the exhuast is pretty high, must be the litre of water im loosing over a ten mile trip.
The good news is it hasnt effected the quality of sound from the stereo, lol
Ive got it booked in for week on monday.
Im just taking very short trips in it to work and topping up before i drive and when its cold.

Cheers for the info.
The missfiring stays pretty much the same. but i have noticed that on occasion it does hold back on the acceleration.
With just getting the car im not sure at the rate its loosing water, but ill be driving it a few miles to work this week so ill be able to keep my eye on how much im loosing.
I had to put over a litre and a half in it when i first noticed it, but this might of been loosing over a long period.
Tile Hill is the other side of Coventry i think, Im still finding my feet down here. which doesnt help.
When i bought it i thought it was an ecu problem and as i got a good deal on it with 75k on the clock, i thought it would be worth the risk.
Im still not put off the model even with this happening. Im just annoyed i might not be able to go fishing for a while lol
Stay safe
Russ

I have just purchased my first Omega  , Downfall is I might have head gasket trouble.
The emissions light is on.
The running is missing a little, its enough to pass though to your seat when idling.
Im loosing water from the system and slight vapours from the exhaust. I cant see any signs of oil in the header tank and there is only a very slight milking inside the oil filler.
I have taken the car for dianostics, which was a keyfob tester and came up with various unidentified codes, and one that said there is trouble with number 4 cylinder.
I am still doing more investigation and I have it booked in again next week, I'll push them in the direction of pressure testing.
Are omega's prone to gasket trouble and if so is there a hot spot were they usally go.
Hope to get this sorted as soon as possible so I can go for a real cruise.
Thanks Russ

Well finally got the mig sorted.
I was right it was the cylinder head gasket, that had gone.
Just got it back from the garage and purrs like a mute kitten, infact when i wlked past it to pick it up I didnt realise it was running.
I'll take up the M6 for a test drive today as i havnt had a proper run in it since I bought it. as long as i just cruise for a while and keep me eyes on the fluids all should be smooth runnin.
Ill post some pics soon just got to add my personal touch to the outside first  ;D :o
