Omega General Help / Re: Heater/Blower
« on: 29 November 2006, 22:04:57 »
Latest instalment is that new motor fitted today and at high speeds it sounds like a Dyson on acid. Taken out and put in again and still the same. Going back in again next week for motor 3 to be fitted, boy am I glad this is a warranty job. In meantime am I the only Omega driver to have their glove box located in boot for over a week ?  ;D

Just an update, it is the blower motor that has gone, not the speed sensor. Got the car back this pm and it's going back in on Wednesday as its 2 days to get parts. Boy am I glad it is in last month of Q Warranty! :)

Thanks guys ! I'll check scuttle drain to see if it is blocked as I don't want this to happen again when warranty finishes !

Omega General Help / Heater/Blower
« on: 22 November 2006, 15:35:27 »
Bit of a cheek seeing as I haven't posted since joining in July but in need of help. Got an 03 2.6 and yesterday the blower for a/c & heating just stopped working. No previous problems with it and a/c climate control electronic display working as normal and can still alter (on display) speed of the blower which is now not working! Checked all fuses and none gone so took it into main dealer (luckily I'm in last month of Network Q warranty). They confirmed it was not fuse and have booked the car in for 3 days as they reckon it takes an age to strip out everything to get to motor and will only be able to order part (which takes 2 days to come) once this is done and they can confirm it is motor that has gone.

As car is only 3 years old and done 25k I'm surprised this has gone so early, anyone any knowledge of known problem with system or similar experience and what cause was?

Many thanks

GMP

See http://www.avforums.com/forums/sky-hd/ for all info you need about technical glitches and deals available. With the new epg you can also receive ITV HD (only occasional footie and films on at present) but it means that ITV hd is no longer exclusive to freesat. We've had it for 2 years and couldn't go back to watching sport in SD.

Plenty of info here http://www.avforums.com/forums/streamers-network-media-players/ which I found useful when setting up our various wireless streamers around house. I'm managing to get flawless results streaming movies wirelessly from NAS drive with G+ router but imagine if you want HD capability you'll need to go wired.

Prepared to be shot down here but as this was in my patch and an area we travel through most weekends it struck a nerve. Fact is down these parts we don't have many traffic police around and we also have some lovely bendy roads which appeal to over enthusiastic/inexperienced bikers/motorists alike. Lost count of the number of times I've driven past bikes hanging from trees/embedded in hedgerows etc. and there have been some real tragic accidents with groups of kids racing cars down some of the same routes. There does seem to be a lot more bikers around these days on big machines which appear at speed from behind or in front. I don't mind them enjoying themselves but when that is forcing me to take evasive action to avoid hitting them when they are on wrong side of road I take exception! I guess the sentence is meant to reflect this growing problem but could just be one-off.

Busy for once this weekend but knowing Totnes you should get an enthusiastic crowd. Have a good 'un. :y

10
The A38-A384 should be fine. It would only be if you went A380 to Newton Abbot and then A381 to Totnes. :y

11
If you are planning to get to Totnes via A381, be aware that they have been closing it just outside Totnes in afternoon/evenings for resurfacing and the diversion is a nightmare.

Lot of mixed views and experiences with Sky HD (See http://www.avforums.com/forums/sky-hd/)

After seeing sport and films in HD we wouldn't go back (but we do have feed going to LCD and a projector to make most of it) Once you've seen sport in HD having to watch ITV and Setanta footie becomes a frustrating experience though. ::)

Time for me to roll out my Omega claim to fame again ;D! Previous owner of my Miggy was Ray Reardon who (not sure if on purpose?) left a signed photo in the glove box. Met him at main dealer when he was passing and saw his old car in for service. At time he was driving a Mustang! Not many celebs in deepest Devon but was in pub in Totnes with a very tipsy James May last year. Once chatted to Tom O'Connor at Heathrow duty free while we both tried to find the cheapest Whiskey. Marty Wilde seems to get about as I bumped in to him at either Glasgow or Edinburgh airport few years back.
