Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Outside Temperature Sensor Reading
« on: 01 February 2010, 17:58:59 »
My Car - 2001 2.6 Omega.

Currently not showing the outside temp on the display, It has an F there instead.

I have changed the sensor behind the bumper twice now and the fault is still there.

I take it you just unplug the sensor and plug the new one in ?? And all should work.

Has anyone any Ideas on what else I could try to get this rectified ????

Steve.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: putting in code for cd/radio
« on: 01 February 2010, 22:45:14 »
Turn the Ignition On and then turn the radio OFF.

Hold down the AS button on the Radio and then turn it back on.

Then use buttons 1,2,3,4 to enter your code, for instance if the code is 2036 you would

Keep pressing button 1 till digit 2 appearsin display, then
Press button 2 until 0 appears, then button 3 till 3 appears and then button 4 till 6 appears.

Once you.ve entered all four digits press the AS button again and it will work

Omega General Help / Has My Headgasket gone ???????
« on: 01 December 2010, 20:52:16 »
Hi All,
I have a 2001 Omega 2.6 V6 with low mileage of 50K.
It has been using alot of oil lately and has been smoking more than usual (I am told this may be the stem seals which i plan to get done in new year).

However I have another potential problem, On checking my oil levels yesterday which i do every two weeks, I have noticed thick yellow sludge on the inside of the Oil cap and in the pipe you tip the oil in ????
No other symptoms such as losing water etc and coolant levels and temps remain fine.

Is this a sign the Headgasket has gone or could it be somthing else ????

Your views are most welcome :)

Omega General Help / Re: 2001 Omega 2.6 V6 - Oil Problem
« on: 22 August 2010, 20:21:16 »
The Car is a Y reg Martin, probably worth me trying to get the breathers cleaned and the rocker cover gasket done to see if that is the fault, getting burning oil smell in actual car now, car seems to run fine though.

Anyone near Northants fancy earning some cash to do this ???

If this dosent fix it then, new stem seals maybe next, anyone any idea of how much this is likely to cost ??

Steve :D

Omega General Help / 2001 Omega 2.6 V6 - Oil Problem
« on: 21 August 2010, 16:39:51 »
Hi Guys,
Some advice needed, I have a low mileage (50k) 2.6 V6 which I have recently noticed the following problems:-

1, Burning Oil Smell from Engine
2, Getting through more oil than usual (topping up once a month now)
3, Smokes on initial start up after sitting all night.

There are no signs of any oil leaks on the floor or in the engine that I can see, so baffled as to what could be causing it.

The car still seems to run fine, but I am keen to get this problem resolved ASAP as it might get worse.

Has anyone any ideas of what could be wrong ???? Is my poor car dying ???? Any one local who could resolve the problem at a reasonable cost (Im in Northants).

Any Help / Advice Appreciated

Steve  :(

Omega General Help / Re: Burning Oil
« on: 26 March 2010, 18:44:14 »
Update, Have had a good look over the engine and have noticed oil on one of the big inlet pipes at front of engine, Have taken the pipe off and there is a bit of oil on the inside and outside of it, Have put it back on securely.
Any ideas as to what is wrong ???? Or could this still be the breathers blocked ???

Thanks for your advice guys.

Ive brought a second hand 'Outide Temp Sensor' and have fitted it, Temp display still says ' F    .   C', this has obviously not cured the fault, Is there anything else which could be casuing a Fault or do i need to reset the new sensor ???

As regards to the reverse flushing to help the heat in the car, Im going to do somemore reading up and attempt it at the weekend.

Any tips or advice given would be grateful.

Steve
