Yep, it was the bonnet sensor - might have spent ages on this if it wasn't for the forum!
Bonnet sensor fixed, and working perfectly now!
Cheers to all again,
Edwin

This one is driving me bonkers....
On a cold day outside, if the car gets whacked with hot sun, the alarm goes off....
Disabling the interior sensors seems not to help...
Bonnet sensor/ PowerSounder?
Its going off properly, flashing lights, horn, sounder, the works... not just the power sounder...
Is there any way of finding out which trigger set the alarm off?
1998 MV6 Estate....

Cheers in advance,
Edwin

Omega General Help / Re: Steering Diagnostic Please...
« on: 21 October 2008, 08:38:23 »
That would be stunning :-)

Absolutely stunning: its pre-2000 (1998) and I suspect min assist would be appropriate! (and after replacing pretty much every link in the suspension/steering, I have the same symptoms as above....)

Shall we do a swap - I've got a spare on its way to me (courtesy of 3.99 and ebay  :-/ ) ?

If you could drop me a PM, it would be *very* much appreciated!
Cheers,
Ed

Oh wow...  finally an answer (I hope!)!!!!

Right. I'm an electronics+software engineer, now how the hell do I build/cobble/bodge/buy something that I can do this change with?????

Failing that, a visit to VX ££££..??

Thanks Mark et all...

Edwin

Indeed - and they were most helpful on the phone, and asked me about the WIM setup... all good stuff.

We shall see the results tomorrow..!

Booked in tomorrow for a set up....

After I've got a pair of new rear tyres..... I got a screw in the centre tread on the way to work today  :'(

Anyway, one pair of new boots for the rears....

A weekend of spanner and compressor work , and a booking at Nigel Langs is in the offing I think!

Cheers people!

Am aiming for 1degree 10' -> 1degree 20' ish? sound about right for camber on a 30mm drop?

Cheers!

Heh - I've been trying to engineer a WIM visit for a while - trouble is to get there would probably cost me half a set of tyres after re-jiggin the suspension ;-) might get down to them after getting a first stab done by the locals...

Mind you, I'm not bad at it myself with a spirit level and bits of string ;-)

Cheers,
Ed

Cheers guys - I like the look of the Bolton place

As usual, the forum is a winner :-)

Been here since the old days of cavweb....

Much MV6 goodness on its way then...

Hi there,
After gritting my teeth and replacing my driver side front broken spring, I'm in need of somewhere to do a full geometry set up: its got new track rods, centre rod, new-ish wishbones and new ish Bilstein shocks to go with the Eibach springs....
Has anyone any reommendations? Most places can't get it on a ramp, and the last place I tried tried to charge me 100 quid to do bugger all, and then claimed that the camber wasn't adjustable on a Omega...and they were meant to be a motorsports specialist...

p.s I need to put at least 2 new tyres on it ...

Omega General Help / Springiness...
« on: 19 October 2008, 19:16:38 »
Due to a broken spring, I just replaced all 4 of mine (after 154k miles...!) with the Eibach kit from LMF Vaux - arrived the day after I bought it. Now feels rock solid, plush but stiff ... great!

Great kit, four spings, no messing...

Two nice points: Bilstein front shocks have a longer thread on the top of the shocker, so that you don't need to compress the springs to get them on /off if you are using 30mm drops... lovely!

Rear springs: an easy job with a bit of forethought: I could post a "how i did it" if people fancied? there's a couple of neat tricks that simplify matters a bit...

Cheers for all the help,

Ed

Omega General Help / MV6 Estate and blasted speedbumps...
« on: 21 September 2008, 12:16:36 »
Hi everyone, I occasionally pop up here (simply the best forum ever for any car I've ever owned) and ask the odd dumb question:

I've just spotted that the front driver's side spring has a 2" section at the part where it meets the shock pan (lower) broken off. This has annoyed me because its a full Irmscher rig, springs front and rear etc etc...

Has anyone either got a pair of Omega Estate Irmscher Springs, or could please point me at something that will maintain the vehicle profile (its the 30mm drop one (see the avatar...)

I've done the front shocks a few thousand miles ago with Bilstein OEM's, and they're great, did the front wishbones, steering idler, track rods and centre link bar, basically every bit new except the steering box. I've started to get what i think is camber wear on the
front tyres, so I had a look and spotted the spring. Is it likely to cause this - the ride height to wheelarch isn't actually much different on either side on flat ground (about  10mm)..

Cheers for all the help,
Edwin
