Thanks Jimbob, looed at that one and think that the DEH-P7000UB will fit the bill for just a smidge over £170.

Still willing to hear of any other suggestions.

My CD changer is starting to play up not reading discs etc , have cleaned the heads a few times but it just does not want to play ball.

I am looking for a replacement that can use the MID.

After a CD/MP3 player, have not got a steering wheel control at all as its currently fitted with a Phillips SC804 and 6 disc changer.

Any recommendations for a make/model would help. Many thanks

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Alarm query
« on: 24 July 2008, 22:04:49 »
Having now got my car up and running again after its little electrical mishap with the climate control board I know the alarm works.

Just thinking about it on the dash there is a LED that flashes when locked up. When locking the car the LED flashes 10 times then flashs about every 10-20 seconds or so.

My query is what does the 10 flashes mean?

Omega General Help / Front drivers wing
« on: 24 October 2009, 18:36:42 »
At present now currently feeling a bit miffed due to the fatc that I have gone and put a huge dent in my drivers font wing.

Makes it worse it was me that did it as I did not see a concrete and steel pillar :'( :-[   and I am on holiday in Devon.

So a quick question, is it easy to replace the wing or not. As the dent is about 4" deep and level with the rear of the wheel arch.

Thanks for any replies.

There is an advisary on the drivers wishbone bush bonding is starting to fail so will be replacing that before getting the camber sorted. Passenger side replaced last year.

I also thank for for correcting me, I knew what I wanted but could not think of the right word. :P

Omega General Help / Wheel alignment issues.

My car has just failed the MOT and the cause was tyre wear.

The front tyres have scrubbed the inside edges whilst the outside edges are showing virtually no wear. Has anyone got what the toe-in/out measurements that would suit as its the 2nd year in a row its failed for wear.

According to the local garage its fine but can not see it somehow.

Or if you have any recommendations in the Hampshire area would be grateful
Thanks

worth checking leak-off pipes

I am assuming that these are the ones that link all the injectors together. Also do they have a oneway system inside themand if they do I assume that it would go from the back injector (no 6) to the front. Only asking as I will be replacing these pipes this weekend as I always seem to get air stuck in the no 5 injector.

Got told my an ex-mechanic if you place a rod on the injector you can hear the difference between one with air trapped and one not. Doing the Diesel Magic on it as well to try and stop the intermittant EMl I get.

Slightly off-topic, but injector cleaner every 3 tankfuls? WTF?  Are you talking STP/something similar?  It's supposed to be every 6,000 miles (unless you're getting 2,000 miles to a tank!).

The only reason I do that is living somewhere that is only 24miles by 15 miles before hitting water means a lot of short journeys. It means I hardly get a long run (especially with all the roundabout and traffic lights about) so its just a precaution on my part.

96 N reg, do not think it has a MAF sensor being the older type (oil filter is the metal can)

Omega General Help / Flickering Engine Management Light(EML)

This is a question for the gurus of the 2.5TD engine.

I have noticed on occasions that my EML sometimes flickers or comes on then goes away again. If I explain the 2 variations I have seen.
1, Driving down the road and then brake slowly, the EML flickers for less than one second and everything is fine.
2, Occurs at slightly higher speeds such as the motorway (50-60), EML comes on and no acceleration or constant speed, drop down a gear and everything Ok again.

Paperclip test come back negative.

Car oil changed every 3-3.5k(car due for an oil change this weekend), injector cleaner used every 3 tanks, no coolant loss and just the occasional struggle to start when hot.

Any thoughts would grateful as its somehing that bugs me and usually happens on the motorway which is most disconcerting.

Mine starts at just after the 1700 mark on a non chipped N-Reg TD. Goes well once the turbo is up and running. Once going it does go into the 3 figure speed mark (not over here but on a 'proper' autobahn).

Next upgrade will be a ECU chip for a better mpg.

Looks like I need to find an AR35 gearbox then!

My ECU doesn't seem to have 427/428 on it though.

I've got :
0 281 001 215
90 379 298

Does that mean anything to anyone?

Older U25DT engine (no MAF), 215 ECU.

So by going with those numbers it looks like mine will work just fine as well (0 281 001 214 on mine). Considering I have just done a long run from Devon to Portsmouth at about 37mpg if I can improve that I will be so much happier when I go back in October.

Omega General Help / Re: front suspension
« on: 24 July 2008, 12:21:14 »
The droplink connect the front anti-roll bar to the suspension system. Thus doing thier best to keep the tyres, as best they can, at the correct angle when cornering etc.

Someone will know doubt have a more technical explaination :)
