Omega General Help / timing belt or timing belt kit.. advice needed
« on: 16 November 2007, 07:58:29 »
Hi all.
my 2003 opel omega has done 136000km (84 000 miles). andi think its time to change timint belt. i'm planing to do it my self but i have some quistion that need answering.

1- by changing the timing belt shall i change the pulleys and tensioner (whole kit) or just the rubber band would be enough. as well is there a way to test pulleys to see if they are any good.

2- other brand eg : gates, HQ, DAYCO,and Cloyes, are they trust worthy.

3- the locking kit is it a must or the job can be done with out it.

thanks everyone in this really helpful forum

Omega General Help / Re: coolant leak
« on: 25 May 2007, 17:55:42 »
thank you all for ur input, acually the holes were 3. i bought new plate for 12 pounds and fitted it, ( bending the oil pipes was not the smartest idea to do but it was managable,).....

and to answer you quistions about if i was using the correct coolant, yes i was with that i fount a little crack in the radiator so i used epoxy to colse it, but i dont think the radiator will hang for long, as i doubt the quality of material that the manifacturer using,,,,, Omega is not as good as i thought of it as german car, i used to have a mazda and it done 350 000 miles in 7 years with out any problem in cooling system, and this omega done 80 000 mile in 5 years and problems starts.

the shame that mazda does not make luxury car as it used to be..... so what will be my next car?

Omega General Help / Re: coolant leak
« on: 22 May 2007, 08:13:57 »
hi all again

i found the leakage source,

so it was the plate cover of the oil cooler... so shall i change the oil cooler with it but as far as i can see there is nothing wrong with it and there was no oil in coolant, as well i wonder if this plate cover  comes by its self or i have to buy it with the cooler?

Omega General Help / coolant leak
« on: 11 May 2007, 15:52:02 »
hi all
my 2002, v6 3.2l leaks coolant but it was not that bad, i had to refill it every 1 month,

but now it can not hold coolant for few seconds then i traced the leak , and it comes out of a hole at left hadn side of the rear of engine, as well i leakage comes from the top of gearbox that i couldnt trace, see pic

i doubt the oil coolant but the leakage from the hole in the pic makes me think it inside between gear and engine,

any comments?

thanx in advance.

strange............. would it stop again shortly.... i hope not but if it does stop... i'll set it on fire..

thanks all for everything.
