Omega General Help / Chilly feets
« on: 04 December 2012, 21:29:08 »
Hello,

It is wery chilly at my feets, direction knob wont give me air to the footwell or change to any other mode that it currently stands on (full window) and circulate button dossent work eather.
HBV seems to be working.
So my guess it is something wrong with the main vacuum to the air direction changer knob and circulate button ish.
Recent work that have been done is new radio, new heater matrix, power cable for amp trough a hole beside air filter.
Tried to look for leaks etc but hard to get around inside the dash and i realy dont know what i am looking after.

Thanks for all the reading, followed the exelent guides here on OOF and as allways, if it hasnt been for this site my omega would been at the scraped long ago.
Just drived 320 miles and no sign of leaking. I think it was pattern gasket but not shure  :P
But wasnt so much work to change it so I go for vx gasket next time.
Now I have to change the wishbone bushes, was some slight wobbeling sidewayes the last 100 miles when I took this long trip.  :'( :(

Yoho
So I took the time to to change the gasket yesterday but I notised something with the old O-rings. Some of them was missshaped, there has been some oil damp comming from screw holes but the main problem was some oil in the plugg well and jamed breathers.
As for O-rings that was missshaped they have broken some of the thin plastic sealing around but not the "T" tha hold the rings on place, so the new one goes firmly in place.
Is this bad and do I need a new cover?
Cant put it back on yet due lack of torque wrench with 8 Nm, mine goes from 20- :(

check the crank cable if not fitted back propper cable heats up on the exhaust manifiold and cuts engine out.

Thanks for the pointer :), the cable was actualy touching the manifoild and not fitted propperly.. But it didnt seem broken or melted in any way. Think i should change the cable?

i had a cavalier with the same engine in it.x20xev 16v ..new crankshaft sensor sorted it,but i had the same symptoms as you for about 2 months before the engine management light came on and stored a code...hth... :)

Im very found of this engine, incredibly strong. Have 380k mileage now and 200k is in my ownership.  :)
To the problem , I left out that it won't ignite at all after it dies and I have to wait for a while before it starts. So could it be fuel related or the immobiliser playing pranks with me.
I dont think it is the fuel filter but I have a new one, so I could just change it for the luck sake. The fuel pump is humming fine. It dosent cough or anything, its run fine or not running at all.
So it needs to learn the new fault before code is stored?  :P

Omega General Help / car dies and no error codes stored.
« on: 30 April 2012, 22:51:56 »
Evening from the wasted nords.
As my topic sayes the engine stops while driveing, then I stop and and turn the ingnition and car starts idiling fine, as soon i start driving afther a while i feel the enginge looses power and pump the gass more and it goes up in rpm again but wont work all the time and stops again.
This isnt happening all the time and I can run many miles before this happens again. Had some of this problems before and then it was error codes with the cam sensor, so I installed new cam sensor, belt etc.
But have noe codes stored now.  :-[
There was a happening a few weeks ago where the car wouldnt start and there was a rappidly blinking in the engine light so I plugged in the code reader and woila, car starts and no codes stored.  ??? My guess here was that the immobilizer hung, but cant know for shure.
So im at a loss here and would be glad for some pointers where to look, its so fustrating that this problem is hard to find. I could change a part and the problem could stil be there afther weeks.

Did he same but there is two places where the vacuum hose was broken, is there any cheap safe fix on this as i dont know how much preasure this pump gives? My first tought was puting some rc fuel hoses and extend and superglue the broken parts.  ::)
Or just get something similar from the local industrial hose repair shop.
